Attack Disk - Angriffsscheibe

These are present in the U-jagd and OLC mods. Did these actually exist in WWII U-boats? I cannot seem to find any mention of them (blame old age!!!)

See page 6 of the following Kriegsmarine Angriffscheibe (Attackdisk) thread. Hitmann shows reallife pieces of the angle solver side. It may not be exactly as is used in the mods (as the backside was seperate, and it is unknown how it looks) but it is not some make-believe modern invention Hitmann cooked up. Sliderulers where as common back then (well if you need to calculate some fancy stuff) as handheld digital calculators are today.

Look here for a picture of the real thing. Based on the symbol on the box, it clearly dates from WWII.

(click on the "Wanted" section, it's the second item listed)

By the way, that website also has photos of the U-jagd stopwatch!

As Pisces said, the reverse side on the SH3 version is adapted from the US model. It doesn't appear that the German version had anything on the reverse side.

Thanks Guys. Slide rules. God I remember using those at school...

Every time I see that circular slide rule it brings back memories. my dad was an airline pilot from 1952-1988, and in the early days he had one made by Jeppesen; they used it for calculating wind drift and they called it a computer.
