No one home at Truk?
I've read a number of posts here at this forum where people talk about the enemy presence at Truk. As such, I have ventured up there in my current campaign a few times, but I never find a single ship! Am I too early in my campaign (mid-1943 currently, if I remember correctly)? I might be in the wrong spot, since Truk isn't labeled on the map. A screenshot of the area might be helpful in this regard.

Hey mate, I've ventured into Truk a few times and even sunk a couple of capitol ships there. It can be a real hornet's nest - dangerous for US subs too. Try the map again - it's there - Carolina Islands - due North of Rabual. Good hunting!

Not labelled??
Are you playing stock? I'm using TM and RSRD and Truck, Iwo etc are all clearly labelled.
|
Erm...
...that would be Truk not Truck, d'oh!!!
I'm mid-43 and I always get radar returns when I'm near Truk but the potential targets are sitting in very shallow water and there's usually been a couple of roving warships on patrol. As mentioned if you're not modded you should probably look at TM or RFB etc. |
I am running stock 1.4. Truk isn't labeled on my map (as far as I can see anyways). That's one annoyance I have ... I wish the map were a little more detailed.

Well then...
....the mods are your answer.
Trigger Maru (or Real Fleet Boat) I believe both have better map info. If you're playing stock you're missing out on a vastly better game with the mods! |
Sorry
Let me qualify that last answer. If you don't want to go with the big all-encompassing mods, I'm sure there's a mod available just for that map label problem. Do a search in the Mod forum.

Sorry JGBishop, didn't mean to jerk your chain. I thought it was labeled on the map (modded or not). Anyway, hope you can get that fixed. It should definitely be on the map. The "Japanese Pearl Harbor" of WWII not being labeled? Oh, and as tomoose stated, the water is real shallow and if you get caught in there you are in deep trouble with the locals. :dead:
