How to improve your FPS???
ultimate trick to increasing your gaming performance???
A while back I had posted a thread complaining about and asking for help on how to improve my frame rates. (My system specs are below.) I had downloaded Diskeeper 2008 Pro Premier rescently. I found it to be the best thing. Defraging with windows never helped much IMO. I use regcure for my registry cleaner/optimizer BTW. For those that are not familiar with the program,(dskpr 2008) what it does is it defragments and organizes your files in a specific way, it analizes every aspect of your hd and it puts it in the optimial location on your HD, consistantly learning so to speak. In the last 2 weeks the program has consistly improved my frame rates. I ran manual defrag just to keep the pace going (when the system is idol, it will defrag until you do something) I had it change the the size of the MFT along with the pagefile as well as defraging them which is never done by windows . My daytime frame rates went from 35-40 to 55-60 and submerged went from 40-45 to 55-60 respectively. Night time has improved aswell, a saved game I loaded was all i needed to prove it I was running 25-30 do to bad weather, well my fps jumped to 40-43fps. I am not telling you to buy this product im just saying you might find it has alot more to offer then just boot time and program loading benefits. Anyone else with this program can verify my claim???? So others could benefit. |
I use UltimateDefrag, you can place files were you want them an it's cheaper....

Hiya Torps,
I use DK 2007/2008, It's not too bad at all I spent a fair bit on a new rig before christmas so fps issues for me are now gone thankfully But a clean defragged hd is always welcome for games especially Also reg defraggers and cleaners are good but like anything you get what you pay for (good rule of thumb for most things computer) and be aware you CAN fubar your reg if you don't know what your doing ;) Glad to see dk has helped you Torps :) PS: Dave (leovampire) and others did a post in 1st sh4 section of the forum about slight boosts etc Have Fun Ciao Def PS: Go4It, Just got that and looks darn good, Done my gaming drive so gonna give her a whirl $40 nice price (only about around 20 quid for uk'ers Cheers Ciao Def |
I use Perfect Disk 2008 from Raxco..I belive it is the best defrag program made,Its not cheap but its great and fast...

One thing that I saw awhile back was going into the Task Manager, selecting the application you were running and setting it's priority to high, gives a few extra frames.
Does not seem to have any adverse effects on other stuff. RDP |
I have another way....
Go buy an $8,000.00 gameing computer. On the other hand your idea's are more cost efficent.:D |
To me, anything more than 24fps is fine. That's the frame rate that movies run at. My rig delivers about 40fps on the external shots, but when I was in the middle of attacking a large Task Force and my fps went down to 25fps, everything was still looking good and running smooth.
So my line in the sand is 24fps. Anything more and I'm happy. Anything less and I wouldn't be. :D |

Dedicate max. resources to SH4
Whatever your hardware configuration, it always helps to free up as much of your PC's resources in general, and for the game you're playing (SH4 in this case) in particular. This means stopping/preventing unnecessary programs and services that typically run in the background.
There are various ways of doing it. A very good guide to determine on what background services to stop wasting your resources is Black Viper's site http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/Archive/servicecfg.htm. There's loads of valuable info on how to trim your PC at Black Viper's - it has helped me keep my rig in top shape all the time, not wasting any power on useless background sludge. I also recommend the FSAutostart utility originally devised to run Flight Simulator with maximum resources, but it works equally well with any other game, link http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/S...utoStart.shtml. Actually, knowledge gained from Black Viper's site comes very handy when configuring FSAutostart. |
Buy a better graphics card LOL .
