Hi everyone. I made another FSX film, this time a small tribute to the beautiful country, New Zealand. Thanks for watching!

Nice intro :D (yes I watched all of it).

Kinda cool someone would do something based on my own country. I really wish I could say lots of great things about this place...

Tex 02-13-08 01:01 AM

Thanks mate!

What do you mean you wish you could say lot's of great things about your country? I've never been there myself, but everyone I've met online from New Zealand was really nice. :yep:

NZ is one of those places you'd love to visit for a week or 2, but never live.

stay too long, you'll find yourself attracted to sheep, too!

Haha, yea, there are some exceptional people who live here. And you will still find many great and hospitable ones.

The country is changing quickly though. There seems to be a criminal industry (violent and fueled by P/Meth) that has begun to prey on tourists. Murders are at one every 2-3 days in my city. This may not sound like much, but for NZ, it's a staggering increase that has no sign of stopping.

When I first left school the government canned training. Even things like trade certificates were stopped or reduced. Apparently our immigrants would bring the skills :88) I managed to get to the top of my industry regardless, but hold no qualification in my Trade. My wages always stank.

Home ownership is plummeting. Effectively unless your in the top 15% of wage earners you can forget about owning a home. We still have a net population flow here, but to be frank, the best and brightest are the ones leaving.

Theres a guilt driven financial industry for the indigenous people. Revisionist history is mainstream in universities, with the placement of confrontational radicals to top posts.

My family came here with the whalers long before this was called NZ. I live in South Auckland, where most people have very little, despite their hard work and long hours. Despite this and the fact many in my family have more 'native' blood than many of these radicals, we will never truly be viewed like we belong here. Despite building this country, despite starving and having to live in the bush in the early 20th century (I have photo's of my grandfather, who still visits and drags me out of bed for a beer, wearing potatoe sacks for pants ^^).

If you are young, live in New Zealand and want a solid future, I suggest moving to Australia and retiring here much later in life.

As an example, I can not even state on the governement census, that I am a New Zealander, or a Kiwi. I have to indicate the colour of my skin and where my family came from 500 years ago. Odd considering the lessons learned from WWII about 'blood' and what 'mix' you have. Here blood gives you privelage.

It may sound 'un-patriotic' as you would put it in the states, but my family left England between 1540 and 1560 (up until then the vast majority, especially in the 1300's, were Royal Navy, many never returned to shore) for a better future, and in that spirit, I do not see why that should not be an option in todays world.

Things could still change for the better here, but i'm not holding my breath.

My goal is not to disuade people from visiting or coming here, just making people realise that humans live here also, in this beautiful country you have done such a great job of re-creating in your video.

(Have lived in Melbourne, loved every minute of it, yes, even many of the Aussies. Though to be honest, most of them were from Lebanon or Italy or Macedonia or Malta... you guys are endangered ^^)

I have never had to do that, i would cross out the boxes & write European/Maori cause thats what i am (Croatian/Maori) the answers they give us is stoopid. But indicate where my family came from? Never had too or i most likely ignored that question. Anyways the census is a load of bull .

Where about in South Auckland are you from, Im from Thames Valley about 70miles out of Auckland.

Wow, I didn't realize you guys had those issues there. I learn something new everyday, but I believe in the good of people and have to believe things will improve for you guys one day.

A good friend of mine, one of my most loyal fans (Dave), lives in Christchurch. I've been enjoying some flights around the country lately in FSX and thought how nice it would be for a video with the LOTR soundtrack. Anyway, I'd still love to see the country someday. Thanks for taking the time to give me the scoop on things down there.

Thats alright mate, the kiwis are assimilating in as well here!

reminds me, how did the kiwi find the sheep in the long grass?? The best in ages thanks!

Seriously though, kiwi was suprised in another thread that you guys were exporting your cop shows. i think its a direct link to the rising crime rates.. cos there is so much now they got more and more 'interesting' things to show.

Back on topic, too, tex - i envy that you can fun fsx at such high res, i never could even dream of it n i got 3GB with a 512 mb card :(

:) Hey it aint that bad i can still walk down to the shops at night which i do alot without the fear of being mugged. What im seeing though in my home town is theres nothing for the young generation so we get teenagers commiting petty crimes. I'm all for the bill, all 17yr olds do a 2yr stunt in the army - it will do them alot of good and help them build their confidence up - plus they get there foot in the door to learn a trade. But our labour govenment reckons thats too 1950's  Oh well lets let them hang out on the streets then. :nope:

Well, I've got a few tricks I use for making FSX movies with max graphics yet smooth frame rates. I really need a better processor and faster ram to run max graphics. I do however have the 8800GTX video card which helps.
