Help....Water is jiggling like jello

The water acts like a bowl of jello ,It has a jiggling effect.Anyway to fix this or is it caused by a mod?

Thanks guys.

what mods do you have?

AkbarGulag 02-11-08 12:58 AM

The fault is related to time compression. I think this was accentuated by ROW, but to be frank, it's a small price to pay.

There's a note somehwere from LeoVampire explaining a quick in-game workaround to solve this, it is most likely in one of the ROW threads.

joegrundman 02-11-08 02:43 AM

I think the workaround is to not jump straight out of high TC on the navmap to a screen with the sea in it. You should slow down to 1TC first.

At first i kept forgetting to do this, but now it's second nature and i seldom get the wobble. I take the oportunity to read some of the messages before going outside.

If using ROW, make sure to use the ROW addon - which was released last month ago - on top of the ROW mod. Check the first post (at the bottom) in the ROW sticky thread in this forum (I think it's under list number 10.). The ROW addon apart from other improvements, also fixes the jiggle as best as possible (note: the effect is also visible in stock).

Time compression is the problem. I get that when I use TC for a long period. The screen graphics need time to 'catch up' so to speak. I got that problem last night. Now what I do is pause the game and wait a few minutes.

If i may quote kriller2 ....You don't need the addon ...the "new pacific enviroment for ROW" overwrites every files from that .

Keeping up with the latest mod(s) update(s) and , only and correct , installorder in JSGME :hmm: is a challenging one .

To be honest, the first time you use ROW, don't use the addon if you have a low spec machine. It eats frames. Kriller does great work, but i'm sure he has a mega nice rig :hmm:

This is why I spent so much energy convincing Leovampire to avoid making his LBO a super MOD in one package.

If the ROW looks nice and runs well, try the addon then.

Should be fine, I have lower specs than that, no problems with the add-on.

Very well, I don't keep up with what mods are available because I don't play the game really. All I know is that the original ROW mod (by Leo) had a hard bug (file corruption) that made the jiggle worse than it was in stock or some of the first ROW-mods. This bug has been fixed by the addon. Of course if the addon is superceded by a newer version, that's also fine.

PS: Any mod that is derived from the the pre-addon ROW-scene.dat will contain the bug as well.

(graag gedaan)

Muppet certainly has a nice rig, maybe get a second monitor and play two games at once

Now i'm interested... anyone know what I can do to my scene.dat to rectify this? I don't find the jiggling a real problem. But removing it would be pleasant also.

kriller2 02-11-08 12:51 PM

The scene.dat used in the Pacific Enviroments for ROW are the same file as the one used in the Addon (and TM) with just some small changes to help correct the problem with the dark water after sun sets.

Both have Skwasjers corrected 2 bugs, so no need to edit anything unless you are running the old ROW reflection and sky controls.

BTW I am only seeing the jiggly water if I press "ctrl + n" or if I load a game where I saved without being in port. It allso looks like you will get the jiggly water effect more if you use the external camera... :hmm:

Sometimes when i come out of time acceleration, in addition to the jellies, the water appears to rush away from me as if i'm in fast reverse; it's been like that since v1.2 at least. Kinda gives me vertigo for a second, which is cool, 'cause i like beer. Cheers! :dead:

M. Sarsfield 02-11-08 02:58 PM

The only time that I get this effect is when I forget to turn off my AVG virus scanner. Problem immediately disappears when I switch to desktop and close out AVG.
