uberboot 1.4B + GWX 2.0 = NO go

For the last 2 weeks + I have been trying to get this combo to work. I do not know if it my computer or not but I can NOT get these two to work together. A couple of weeks ago I decided to update my game profile to see what was new. I had been using the previous uberboot Beta & GWX 1.03 which was working just fine, but thought that newer SHOULD be better. :nope: After updating both programs I could not get the uber to work. If I started a new career with the 2nd flt (to make the type IXb available) I could get the boat with the correct gun suite. But it wold NOT give the added crew or the proper torp LO. Not to mention the cut rate price tag.
Upon trying to play the game anyway, with or without the uber mod activated, it would freeze @ the load screen when it said "not so long ago". This was discused in a previous thread. FINALLY @ about 4:00 AM this morn. I discovered that the two updates where not compatable (on my system). I can run uber on a vanilla shiii with 1.04 patch w/wo commander 2.7 but if I added GWX 2.0, w/wo commander, I would lose the uber again.
I have NOT tryed updating one but not the other, either way, as I decided to go to bed instead. :yep: Has anyone else had any of this experience ? I would like to have both the uberboot & GWX without UNupdating. I now have one career w/uber & one w/GWX. Can I not have BOTH - TOGETHER ?.? :damn:

I noticed that Mush posted on his thread that with GWX 2.0 that there would be no guarantees with Uber.

As far as future developments I am not sure and will leave that for him to respond to. I did send him a PM regarding this.

Hello maybe you like to try my IXB Gunship .
There are both 1.4b and GWX2 versions in download.

Sirten Deth 02-06-08 03:41 PM

1. Thank you VERY much for your assist, RDP

2. SVK - do you have more info, specs, pics, demo, etc. ?
Will it have compatability problems if files are near uberboot,is it JSGME compatable ?

Mush Martin 02-06-08 03:56 PM

Yeah Uber has not been updated for use in GWX2.0 at the moment
I am trying to go back to betas on the uber2.0 and get it working
for someone who is going to at least keep an eye on the project
if not advance it a little further.

sorry dude
M

Thank YOU for the reply MM. Maybe make something that will do w/ basic.cfg & mini tweaker, or something... Something for Com. Sinkem Awl to drive around for awhile. :yep: :arrgh!: Sick um Sinkem. :rotfl:

Yes it is JSGME compatable. Have played it with gwx2 no problems.
I think it is less complicated than uber. only IXB hull and VIIC/4 sturm. +
some menuwork. What you see in my signature is all.

Do you have an opinion as to which combo would work best ? Previous uber with gwx20 or new uber with gwx 104 or both earlier versions. what commander version ? :hmm:

How do I indicate insanity??

you gotta understand how the game mechanics work...

One mod will add/replace on file in your game, important files life .cfg files may cause ctd, so you dont JUST add them... you have to open them and check what do they do... one mod changes something in one file, the other does it too, but with another part of the file, and so on... so you can just see what one does and what another does and make a hybrid of that yourself, take one part you like from one and add to another, and edit the values to your like. Sometimes if you cant open the file, just choose between one file or another, depending on what you want. Certain mods dont work well if you remove certain files, other work just fine, so you must keep a sharp eye for that... Lets supose one mod modified the files A, B, C, D and E, and another mod modifies the files B and D. You choose which ones you think is better for the gameplay you want, and add one mod into another and just put it all together into JSGME and there you go...

Its complicated? VERY!

To enable all those mods to work properly I've spent about 15 hours editing files...

Any question PM me!

Thanks , AGAIN. You see I am NOT a modder (DUH) I am a user. NO offence intended, I have only the upmost respect for ALL the doers in the community. But to explain.. what got me into this prediciment was that I had been playing with shii v1.04 + gwx 1.03 + commander 1.03 (? damn i.m gettin tired), anyway I decided to update everything all at once instead of 1 @ a time and see what was working & see what didnt , but it seems I cant even do that much right. If I can open a file & change values .. ok but to do it so it works.. well. Frankly I dont even get the whole "drag & drop" thing. Cut & paste .. forget it. Give me a machine in parts in a box, tell me what it is supposed to do and I will put it back together for you. I built my own computer, but that is just putting stuff together. I had to pay somebody to fire it up & make it run. Thats how much of this modding thing I am able to do, so I am sorry if I seem like such a dunce at this . Its because I am.

No offense taken! I know exacly what u mean, I was once just like u, but in the end my curiosity forced me to learn a lot so I could do the stuff myself the way I wanted it to be... but I still dont know squat compared to what is there to learn, its just too much... but what can I say, Im a knowledge eater, my curiosity kills me, started as a 12 years old boy who tryed something for the first time (deltree *.*, screwed all files in the computer and my father got pissed :rotfl: ) and I know that my curiosity will eventually get me there, coz life is about learning and missing!

Yes I know about "deltree (all files)", aswell as dos in general. In fact I still have several versions of dos ( 2.0, 2.2, thru 6.2 & 6.22) on floppy 3.5 discs as well as some on 5.25. My first computer was an old (not then) floppy swapper with 2 5.25" drives. NO hard drive, similar to a commadore 64. Not sure which was older. I still have some games from not long after that time, even shI commanders edition (one of the newer ones I have). Gave away a LOT of dos based games that no one wanted. It seems that the farther into windows the operating system goes the less I am able to do with it. But your curiosity is here, while mine is mainly inclined to be mechanical. I was always the kid who took "stuff" apart to see what made it go, then put it back together so it could, sometimes even better.
