Newbie Q
Alright, trying my hand at the submarines and having some difficulty picking out the real and "phantom" signatures from my towed array. I watched the tutorial and it said to make some course adjustments and pick the one that stays put. However, I've been finding that both move a bit and its fairly difficult to tell which is which. Any clues from the veteran crowd?

Alas, you have come upon the learning curve.
Things like this require practice, practice, and MORE practice. There is no magic trick to it. Welcome to the board and to the sim. |
Ok so what submarine are you learning from first of all? it helps as the kilo and akulas have diffrent sets to the american boats.
Theres plenty of documentation on tacitcs and guides depends how you want to play, www.silentsharksnavy.com for example is a good place to train using DW we do train people to be efficent in any platform they wish. also www.commanders-academy.com is a good place to speak to alot of people in fleets and also documentation. www.subguru.com is a good place to get the mods other missions documentation and also misc stuff. The great thing is all these sites have all branched out in some way from here. If you want mp battle some time for training then PM me. |

The best way to practice is to create a simple mission with a civilian ship that makes a ton of noise and have your towed array deployed at mission start. On that note, whenever I deploy my array, I have the indicator at ship control stop at the "s". This helps in that you can have a TMA faster than if it was fully deployed. |
The mirror contact should move twice as much in the direction of the course change.

Thanks, I'll get to work!
Edit: PS, I'm using the Seawolf. |
Also watch for array 'kick'. If you go straight, and start turning, for a moment array will turn in opposite direction. In this moment all contacts may move a bit. Only at steady turn the real contact will stabilize on some bearing while mirror contact will move.
