HELP - German Music

I'm editing video from my trip to Germany and I'm looking from German music to go with it. I'm looking for something that would go good with footage of Koln (City shots the Rhine), Heidelberg (Castle, River, University and City) Munich (Park and City) and finally Neuschwanstein Castle.

I'm looking for something mellow. I would like a mix of classical, folk, pop, soft rock.

Thanks!

Thank god you don't want to use Rammstein. Every video on youtube, liveleak and so on seemed to use Rammstein as backround music when it was related to germany ;)

I think this could be considered (soft) rock:
Juli - Geile Zeit
Bernd Begemann - Nichts erreicht ausser dir

The question is if it fits to your video footage...

This could fit to Neuschwanstein:
Wassermusik

And because I have watched the movie Excalibur lately:
Carmina Burana with film footage
:D

Let us see what you made out of it once it's ready.

If you take some shots of you driving around, there really is no substitute:

I agree Skybird. I prefer "Die Ärtze" over "Tote Hosen", but generally I don't like either of them.

Die toten Hosen once were kicked out by tina turner. I do not like Tina turner's music at all, and she objected on a tour in germany that this german band should make it's noise in her pre-show. Whole Germany laughed back then.

Thanks Guys, I cant believe it's this difficult to find music that fits. A lot of the video I have is from cruses on the Rhine for me the electronic stuff just doesn't fit. Is there some more acoustic type groups/songs out there. It's funny the top 3 things that keep popping up seem to be um-pa, Nena (99 red Balloons), the the heavy rock/techno in terms of an American view point.

I included a list for what I think I'm going to use for the other countries so you can get an idea of the direction I'm going in.

And not only that, it's always Du Hast !!!! That was the ONE SONG on that CD that I didn't like and that I would skip over !!! Wouldn't you know that that song would become the freakin' breakout hit of the album and after a while you wouldn't be able to bat an eyelash without hearing that damn song.:nope:
They really changed their sound for that CD. I have some of their older stuff and they sound like a German version of Depeche Mode.

Janus 02-01-08 02:18 AM

I never really liked Rammstein. The guitars and drum parts of the music are fine but I don't like the singing much. And most of the songs (I know) sound very similar to me, which is good for someone who likes this kind of music.
I remember an interview with a part of the band where the keyboarder said something like "We want to make music that is not complicated - easy music that the people can understand". Well I don't want to say music has to be über complicated to be good - not at all. But that statement very much implies that Rammstein thinks their listeners are very shallow minded dulls.

swifty, what about some slower "Scorpions"?
Scorpions - Holiday
Even the lyrics fit well ;)

Blacklight 02-01-08 03:58 PM

Ramstein ,who prior to their big hit album with Du Hast on it sounded like a German Depeche Mode, pretty much copied the sound of another band that was around long before them called Die Krups and maybe a little influence from KMFDM. I thought Ramstein pulled off the sound much better though and their lyric writing is much better than Die Krups and KMFDM.
With the exception of Du Hast which I can't stand. The rest of that CD was so good. Why did the ONE song I couldn't stand become the freakin' breakaway hit !?!:damn:
