[REL] New Ships
 
This is a mod that adds new Japanese ships to the game. Included so far are the following:

Thanks for your work on the new ships. I do have one question? How will these ships work with RSRD. Have you experimented in this regard? Thanks for the info.

If someone would explain to me how to get them to work in RSRDC then I would work to make that possible, as of now I have no idea how to get them in RSRDC.

What would be nice is if someone would go back to the historical missions that need it and alter the ships to the correct class/ship where needed.

I posted a question about adding ships months ago, but you took it further and did it. I did some research when I posted so I hope this helps you with your quest for more "targets". Oh yah and um I am not trying to hijack your thread.;)


Following ships are needed
United States

1. US light Crusier Pensacola class +1 Salt Lake City
2. BB Nevada and Pennsylvania
3. BB New York and BB Texas
4. BB Wyoming and Arkansas
5. BB South Dakota Class +3 Indiana,Massachusetts and Alabama
6. CVL Independece Class +8
7. CV Essex Class + ?
8. CV Ranger
9. CV Langley
10. CV Yorktown
11. CV Lexington +1 Saratoga
12. CV Wasp is the current carrier

Japanese

1. Cruiser Tone +1, Chikuma
2. Cruiser Nagara +5, Abukawa,Isuzu,Kinui,Natori,Yuri
3. Cruiser Asama +1, Tokiwa
4. Following are carriers

They work for me fine in TM. The only issue you may run into is w/ some of the mods that reorganize the recognition manual into books by ship class, since these are coded as Japanese Warships and the recognition manual mods do not change these.

Coming up soon, maby Friday if I find time- Kagero class destroyers, IJN Army plane escort carrier things, Hatsuharu destroyers, Kamakaze destroyers, Wakatake destroyers.

Torps- I will look into that list after I finish the above.

Of course adding ships can do some odd things.

A group has a random DD escorting it, and all the patrol boats, Old DDs (Momi, et al) are just DDs. You could have a naval TF with non-fleet DDs escorting.

Ideally, PBs, etc would be corvettes, frigates, Patrol craft, etc (types other than type=4)

The stock game uses type=0 and type=4 for the IJN, no others. TM adds type=1 for subchasers, minesweepers, etc.. It also adds type=3 for bungo pete. Type=2 is unused.

For TM you might change the types on the patrol craft to 1 or 0. 1 will get used more as merchant escort. Any other type would only show in a campaign that used them. Also, if using a DC mod, the new ships will all have late war, large warhead DCs (the stock one).

BTW, if the ships are visually nearly identical, and you are not changing their speeds, appearance, etc, perhaps adding them would be as easy as making sure the ship names are in the roster. Would clutter the rec manual less.
