Type II Periscope?
 

I was reading this webpage on the Type II and got the impression that the type II has only one periscope. Is this correct or have I read it wrong?

It does after all say "one periscope in the conning tower" it doesn't mention any other.

What I´m wondering is: Does anyone use the observation scope?
I sure don´t. What´s the use? :hmm:
I havn´t seen any real differences.

This was reworked in OLC GUI mod. The observation periscope is very (if not extremely) useful there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the obs periscope tilt at a higher angle than the attack scope? Which makes it useful for airplane spotting. (or bird watching;) )

That is correct. On the other hand the observation periscope leave a much more visible wake, that's why most people don't use it. Personally I use the observation periscope only late in the war 1944-45 with the attack one when I'm using the snorkel to be able to see planes and other targets.

I´m sorry but what is the "OLC Gui" mod?
