GUI tracking question
I am finaly getting a grasp of manual targeting thanks to OLC GUI mod. I am using the vid tutorial and pratice both submerged and surface. Question - When tracking my target on the surface how far should I be away to prevent being visualy observed by the target.

Just kidding Mate! ;) There are many vaiables here to consider. 1st, as donut mentioned...click on the map contact and you should see a semi-circle that shows sensor and visual ranges. Next is your aspect to him...ie..you'll be harder to spot pointing right at him or away, compared to broadside. (this is valid for both visual and sonar detection) Then there's sea state...and your sub type, as some are taller than others. You'll read several folks here run decks awash, with just the conning tower above the surface, which really does work, and make you harder to spot. There is no "set" number...all these things do make a difference...Hope that helps :up: Ohhh and one more thing...all the fancy sub skins you see around here, make no difference at all...thats just plain eye candy for you (and us)...and has no effect on detection. |
