[REL] IJN Soryu Carrier

REL, IJN Soryu Feet Carrier

About this carrier: It appears in the game in random jap task forces until 6/4/42. Its good for the midway mission too.

Cut and Paste the data folder to your root directory or install manually.

Credits go to: Kriller 2 for his hull color I cloned onto this ship.

Why did you point her at Shokaku's model when she is the sister ship of Hiryu and virtually identical to Hiryu?

Shokaku is nearly 30,000 tons, and 844' long. Hiryu is ~20,000 tons and 745' long. Soryu is actually smaller than her younger sister, Hiryu, and is just shy of 19k tons, and is 746' long.

Hey, a new ship.

miner1436 01-19-08 03:02 PM

I thought this looked closer to the Soryu IMO.

tater 01-19-08 03:43 PM

Soryu and Hiryu are virtually identical. Hiryu is a Soryu Class CV.

It's like making Musashi by cloning Iowa, lol.

The major difference is the island position (visually). If you really wanted to make Soryu, I'd open the dat with S3D, and see if the island is a node. Then move it to the other side and forward.

Ideally, the forecastle deck should also be lowered by one deck level........ the "Hiryu" was a modified "Soryu" design rather than a "Soryu"with the island placed to port.

I suppose you could term them 'half-sisters'.:hmm:

Does it come with an entry in the recognition manual?

miner1436 01-19-08 06:05 PM

yes

tater 01-19-08 09:43 PM

Yeah, I realize as sisters go they are very far apart. As far apart as you can be and be sister ships, really. That said, Shokaku is grossly bigger than either.

The focs'l would require real 3d modding, while moving the island might be possible using S3D right now, literally moving the coords of the island.

miner1436 01-19-08 10:48 PM

I changed the tonnage to 19556, im not experienced with S3D so if anyone wants to try it, go for it.

I just did a quick test in s3d.

I removed the minus sign from the mast and island ("cabina"). I forgot the actual bridge. It swaps to the other side, easy peasy. JUst need to move it forward to the forward elevator. You also need to clone the whole dat.

:yep:

A good starter project, s3d is actually pretty easy to learn, I'm totally clueless with 3d and I just made a decent start at it :D
