Windows 7 early release version already shipping to key accounts?
Vista is on schedule for one VERY SHORT LIFE! THis is good, not real happy with it as an OS myself (If you guys couldn't have guessed already!).

If anyone noticed - that kernel only takes up a small 40 MB of memory for WIndows 7. Seems are 512 MB bloat monster in Vista is going away!
-S PS. NEver mind. THis is just someone ripping the kernel apart, not the default kernel. |
Inside scoop - Just talked with someone working on the project - TOms Hardware is blowing it way out of proportion. Not only is it not widely distributed as TGDaily says, but its an incredibly early version.
Ignore TGDaily on the above story. The M1 build is barely working. What is even going to be included in it is still way to early to tell. -S |
What they need to do is come up with a kernal that can handle software from all their prior operating systems without us having to make our systems multi-boot and have each system taking up valuable space on our hard drives. I mean.. DOSBOX is a great program and all, but we need a "WINDOWS 98 BOX" etc..
It would be nice if they would actually do something like that.. but I know they won't. I have so much cool old software that I love to run that I just can't say goodbye to and have had to jump through hoops to get them to run just under XP alone.. let alone the ones that wouldn't run at all. I worked as a computer tech and I can't tell you the ammount of stuff I've loaded on Vista machines.. and these programs were within maybe two years old and they weren't compattable... let alone the hardware issues I've had with it. |
Let it be stable.
Let it be compatible. Let it be tight and safe and secure. Let it be supported by drivers. Let it be simple in options, handling and structure. Let it be running on as little ressources as possible. Let it be the empty screen on which the film is projected. Let it not be mistaken for the film itself. Let it be blessed with the virtue of modesty, then. For cars there is a simple rule: the less complex, the more solid, the fewer problems. OS-makers can learn some desirable goals from that. |

Well for what it's worth, I installed the Vista beta SP1 and Vista does feel better . One thing I noticed straight away was when deleting a folder full of files, it doesn't sit there for 5 minutes working out what it needs to delete, it just takes about 5 seconds and its all done. That's an 'A' in my books.

and an F for you using it ;)
Seriously though, I dont see that they can make it any worse at all, really.... you'd hope any service pack has vast improvements!:D |

And no-one else is concerned by this short development period? What, is this like, Vista SP2?

I really don't know why everyone hates Vista. I thought I was going to go mad using XP. Vista home premium works faster than any other operating system I have ever used.
