switching to ixb

As you can tell by my name my favorite boat is the viic. I am starting a new mission with a IXB. My question is what is the deepest you have gone in it. I dont think the IXB Goes as deep and the VII.

I´m a big fan of the IXB.
I´ve been down to depths of 230-235m.
Perhaps it can go even deeper.

im pretty sure it can make 250 my IX does just hope you dont take a DC or your toast bud!:D

even the VIIC can make it to 250, deepest ive gone without imploding in it... but that boat got captured :(

Gezoes 01-14-08 09:59 AM

220 here, but remember her behind. She doesn't turn as swiftly ;)

I used to be a 100% IX-junkie, but I took a VII this time from Wilhelmshaven. You can get a IXb there in 1939 if you want...

I forget the actual depth it was, but I do know it was the deepest you could go with the stock depth-meter (I was running GWX, but I dont think that modifies it at all).

No damage, just warnings from the crew and alot of creaking. The destroyer overhead had no idea we were that deep either. It continued DCing about 20-30 meters behind me.

Dronston 01-14-08 11:03 AM

A few days ago I wanted to test the crush depth of my VIIC, it went to 410 meters before imploding! Of course, I had 100% hull integrity and I'm sure it would have imploded even if I would have started to go up again at 300 meters, damage would have been to bad to repair before I would have reached the surface.

Let's honor the crew that got lost with that dive, they gave their lives for a higher good and went this deep so others wouldn't have to...

That goes without saying, see the world in a IX Boat and not just the back yard.

How'd you get your boat to go that deep? I cant find a way to go to 300m and beyond :-?

Storabrun 01-14-08 12:23 PM

260 m is ok for a IXB in GWX 2.0, but that is pushing it as I started taking damage at 267 m. After blowing tanks I surfaced with 97% hull integrity.

Well all I really did was a crash dive, switched to regular dive at about 60 m and just kept diving all the way at max speed. I guess I was diving so fast that before the total damage added up to an implosion I was at 410 meters.

In theory all of you should be able to do the same. In another thread I saw somebody else got up to 400 or over too.

Yeah I guess I will be doing some testing tonite. The community manual says it goes down to 217 I believe. Dont forget... I think the community manual is going to be history in february I thought I read on a previous post.
