waiting my life away
lo all
decided to time how long it took to load my campaign from the main menu screen last night.....TEN MINUTES!!!!! WOW!!.....is this normal???? i dread to think how many hours of my life is being wasted waiting for sh3 to load!!!.....but i cant stop...its too good.....and the resulting patrol was worth it 4 catalina aircraft downed 4 large cargos sunk...and HMS Rodney sunk...all 36000 tonnes of her AND a T class submarine......what a lucky b****** i gloated all the way back to base...sending patrol reports to bdu in the hope other u-boats would intercept my messages and be sick with jealousy!!!!:p :p ive taken screen shots of those sinkings and one of my patrol report but dont know how to post these.....theyre going up on my wall when i get a printer ha!!! |
I clocked the game my self the other day.
From Windows I start with ShCom. To Gamemenu: aprox. 2-3min. From gamemenu to commandroom about the same: 2-3min. I run a AMD X2 4400+, GF7900GTX, 2Gig Ram. Hell of a long time loading but well worth it! /VV |
Hmm lol mine does take over 20mins total... Luckily I love to read ;)

Holy sh*t! |
For me game load time takes less than a minute.
|
And why the horrible load times for the museum? Surely someone would at some point realize this during beta testing, and actually change it so it didn't hog up as much as a normal campaign?
|
It really depends on your rig. With my old Radeon 9800/1.5 chip and 1 gig ram, it took ages, and I mean forever, now it's quite rapid. Adding ram helps, but a fast chipset helps a lot too. Without any new hardware, maybe try giving SH3 priority using the Windows Task Manager?
The loadtimes for the museum are indeed ridiculous, I think it has to do with the game somehow loading the entire game-engine to portray the units. I never use it though. |

Be more specific, what defend system you have? Waht kind of firewall do you use and etc..
I don`t have a High end pc but for me it takes 1-2 minits to fully load the game and a carer save game so its depends on many things. |

Kaluen,
Allow for your ten minute time... make coffee or tea. Grab a beer or vodka. Read and or post on the forums. Im sure my fellow kaluens wished that my load times were faster just to keep me from posting my inane rantings on the boards! :p |
My rig: PIV3.2Ghz 1GB RAM DDR2, Nvidia GeForce 6200LE 256MB.
As you see, not a cutting edge PC, but it only takes a couple of minutes for me to load the whole thing, sure, museum takes a little bit longer than a single mission or the campaign, but not that much either. Oh, BTW, OS: Windows Vista Starter Edition:dead: |
You either have other applications running in the background competing/sharing memory - even just your AntiVirus can be a RAM pig, or...
You have large Mods installed. The bigger the game data, the longer the load time. That's just how it is nowadays with most games. |
E6400 dualcore, 2 gigs Crucial, 7600GT and XP Pro..
Takes me about 30 seconds to get into the game, and about 2 minutes to load the savegame. A key thing is the number of processes running in task manager.. i keep my machine running smooth, with only about 33 processes in the background at any time. Tool. |
Regarding the load times in GWX:
Long loading times are unavoidable. Do not confuse this with specifications required to run the game once it IS loaded. Any time we add something new... that didn't previously exist... it potentially increases load times. Though faster systems do shorten the load times a bit. All that you can do is just keep your patience. We are all stuck with it as it is precipitated by limitations of the SH3 engine/program design. Basically, a large amount of data must squeeze through a narrow bottleneck before it can present as the game world. Please note that GWX will not demagnetize your refridgerator magnets or make your hamsters pregnant. |
