Sudden end game
i hate the fact that you have no chance to save your boat usually... it just smashes right to the "haha you killed your crew jackass" screen.. is it possible to maybe let you go down with the the ship while she sinks till the superstructure implodes completely, so you at least have a chance to stop flooding and blow ballasts and what not to possibly give you a chance out of it?
ive only sunk down once uncontrollably, and i saved myself... so i want to be able to do it again more often |
If it was possible, the GWX crew would have done it already.
|
well at least i didnt get my hopes up....
|
I don't quite understand what you mean.... if your boat sustaines damage you have time time fix it... if the damage and flooding is too severe you will start sinking to crush depth and die.
As long as your repair crew is good enough and you have enough time you can save your boat.... blowing ballast tanks has saved me before, when I was slowly sinking deeper and deeper. What you are describing were it smashes to the "haha killed you" screen sounds like a depth charges must have exploded like 3 centimeters from your hull which will of course instantly kill any boat. |
ive taken a depth charge in super shallow waters ( in the maltese port to be exact ) directly on my bow before... destroyed my hydrophone and bowplanes but i was able to stop flooding.
and it wont let you sink to crush depth mosttimes, it just throws you to that screen |

I changed mine from 550 to 2000, and i have been in paradise city :|\\ Depth charged to the bone, sinking to the depths incontrolably, everything destroyed, crew being killed and i was able to watch all this happens... If you want to watch the disaster to the very ending, i suggest you edit the hitpoints to a value like 5000. And dont worry about thinking "Im cheating, if i do this my boat will be indestructible"... thats not quite right... everything INSIDE your u-boat will be destroyed as normal, including equipment, flooding times, crew, etc, so you wont be able to even move, youll be with all your engines, fuel tank, and equipment detroyed, all you could do is blowing ballast, but again with all compartments flooded you wont be going anywhere but down! the only thing you're doing is delaying the death screen pop-up and having more time to watch the disaster, eating your popcorn! Any further questions on that, PM ME! |

There are very negative/unrealistic side effects/behaviors when you make changes that transform your U-boat into a Tiger tank. You will see. There are very good reasons why we chose not to increase the hitpoints for player subs in GWX. If you use the forum search eventually you will understand why. |
so what do you suggest lehmann
and what the hell is the timetravellers minitweaker |

Of course, if you don't mind breaking a few features, then any change to your game is perfectly acceptable. |
Kpt L is right... there are somethings that will change a bit.
But you are changing to introduce more realism in exchange for a little less realism, coz lets agree, the instant death screen is the most irrealistic thing in the game. Anyway, depends on each individual person to decides what their game should look like. If anyone here hates that screen as much as I do, you are free to try a mod I just did. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=128593 I haven't found more than one issue using this... feedback are welcome, so we can find another issues on using this. |

It is also quite easy to argue that reaching crush depth is (realistically) a very sudden event in real life. At the moment it occurs, life aboard the sub ends in a split second. |

You're absolutely right about that, no point arguing. But the crush depth is poorly simulated in the game, original or modded. There is no crush depth final point, it is related to a relative depth, once you cross it, the hull will start to lose hitpoints, once the hp reaches zero, death screen. So lets say you are diving at 1 meter per second, when you bleach thru the barrier of the crush depth, the hull will start decomposing. If the crush depth is 250, you will get death screen around 300, 320 meters. But the interesting thing is, if you are diving at 2 meters per second, or if you are literally flying against the bottom due to overflood, lets say at 5 meters per second, you will bleach the crush depth line and get the death screen arould 450, 500 meters... and that is as irrealistic as... well, something funny in my head I shouldnt say here... :rotfl: But we cant get rid of that, its hard coded... On the other hand, we can get rid of that annoying death screen, also irrealistic... Wouldnt you agree? |

The mod you describe will likely function with GWX, but will not be compatible with the damage model balance in GWX. For these reasons and others we will advise GWX users against employing this modification. |
Throwing wrenches again...
If you receive a deckgun shot agains your u-boat (that you shouldn't, coz you shouldn't be fighting a destroyer surfaced) will result in flooding and equipment destroyed just like in normal game. If you let the destroyer swiss-cheese you uboat, everybody inside will be dead and all the equipment gone to waste, the flooding will be all over the place and you uboat will be sinking, and sinking fast. So really, the only problem so far is that the swiss-cheesed uboat have the same crush depth as a brand new uboat. And that can be fixed! Im working on that as we speak. So this is nothing to do with scrambling the game as you are putting here. So go ahead and send PMs to everybody telling them that my mod will erase all the files in the hard disk or whatever you want to say. I think that you shouldnt get involved in a mod that is not yours, like you said to me once, remember? Let the people try, and let them get pissed off or enjoy, let them TRY! |

Nor have I said anything rude to you. Although it would have been nice of you to have given us the same benefit in days past. Instead you flamed and insulted, and showed your ignorance of GWX methodology regarding damage modelling in GWX. Your words: Quote:
