In GWX, the sound of a ping doesn't mean that they have located you, does it? That's only when you get the verbal announcement of "they are pinging us", correct? That's the warning that they have you?

yes, and if you hear the echo of a ping immediately after a ping, thats the sounds bouncing off the hull.

The sound nor the announcement means they have you. But if they are headed in your general direction and your not positioned correctly they pretty much got you. Look at the notes in the manual. Excelent info on how it really works and tips for evading.
