(REQ) enlarged compass

Got SHIV for dad. His eyesight isn't perfect and he has trouble reading the stock compass despite the 'zoom' when the cursor is on it. Is it possible to 'increase' the zoom when the cursor is on it or is there a mod out there already. I know most mods have been geared towards shrinking various tools so this one is probably a bit of an anomaly.
Any info is appreciated.
