It does make you wonder why in the world they were even shopping for one anyway and not let a computer shop do it...granted, I've seen some computer shops that act the same way. Best example is a buddy of mine who's Dell Dimension 2300 XP Home ran slower than crap. It had a ton of stuff installed and if I remember right, 40 some odd processes running at boot up. It's been a few years, so my memory eludes to that...but anyway. The shop told him that it had a virus and that's all that was wrong with it. It had the bare minimum RAM installed on the machine and once I gave it a boost of PC133, she did fine. Since the computer was already so old, he gave it to me. I wiped it clean and reinstalled.
