1942: A Mod Oddity

Not sure if this a mod or the way I have them installed.... but I'm seeing a few strange things after installing some of the latest major mods. I installed on top of an existing TM 1.7.2 career, but I was in port (game loads to the office) when I installed everything, so I should be OK I think.

Here's the JSGME screenie showing the mods and the order I installed them...

http://dodownload.filefront.com/9303...ba9f93f4e58766

First, on the map some of the contacts show up as black dots (TM does this I think) and that was working fine until I added the TM patch, ROW and the RSRD Camp P2. Now some of the ships, such as the Porter class DDs, show up as the stock hull shapes while the rest are still dots. I know what happened to cause this, I just don't know why.

Now for the first time EVER I was offered a refit with the "mid war" cut down conning tower mod when I ended my previous patrol... and I accepted that. I'm currently driving a Porpoise in May '42, BTW. And when I went to the boat upgrade screen, all the usual expected upgrade offereings were there... SD RADAR, 3" deck gun, 20mm AA. As I had all these already I just left it all alone.

What's weird is after installing these mods, I go to the upgrade screen and I am now being offered the advanced SD RADAR, both the SJ and SJ-1 RADAR, the twin 20's and the 4" deck gun. Stuff that should not be available this early in the war, and were not available when I looked at the screen prior to installing the mods.

Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

TIA

JD

JD, Only one thing I can suggest there - it looks like you said you were using RSRD phase 2 - not sure that is TM compatible as I believe only RSRD 1.18 is suitable for TM. ROW shouldn't have changed anything on the upgrades screen - not sure is RSRD did or not.....

Thanks Cap for the suggestion. I double checked to make sure and there does seem to be a RSRDC version for TM (v220)... but it's entirely possible I screwed up the install order.

See - if its v220 I am running behind the times and gotta get updated! Thanks for the info!

The reason is that I failed to replace the XXX_shp.dds files in v220 that of RSRDC, A small patch will be created to correct the problem.

Thanks Lurker. That 'splains it. Not a huge deal obviously... I was more worried about my install combination/order than anything.

To follow up on the sub upgrades....

After I noted all that futurama technology being offered, as I mentioned above, I exited the game without saving to verify the installs. That's when I posted here about it. But when I went back into the game afterwards and loaded up that same save, the "inappropriate" upgrades were nowhere to be found. I didn't dream it... they were there. And I made no modification to any of the files or did any reinstalls in the mean time. Weird, eh?

There are a couple of files that need to be set up for upgrades

If all of the files are not set up properly they only become available when you first get to base and are gone after you save and go back to the save game file.

Telling the game they are there for purchase is one thing you also have to tell the game the sub can have these upgrades for a certain amount of time available for it or it will not happen again until you leave the base on a patrol and come back.

Sounds like the changes were not added to ALL of the apropriate files that handle the upgrades.

Like UPCUnitsData / UPC files for each sub in the actual sub files as well. EVERY UPC file for sub equipment and upgrades needs to reflect the changes you want in game for them not just a few.

And you have to make sure the Save game files related to it match and or reflect the changes you made to the gme files.
