Was s-44 the only s-boat lost to enemy action during the war?

PS, off the top of my head, there were about half a dozen S boats lost during the war... as well as an R class or two.

S-26, S-27, S-28, S-44 and S-49.

True. I didn't include them because they were both 'lost' due to running aground, and had to be abandoned and scuttled. Not combat losses.

Only one S boat the S 44 was lost to direct enemy action.

Notes: The S boats were the largest submarine class in the fleet at the start of the war and comprised 1/3 of the total submarine fleet. The S class seemed to suffer from running into things. Of the 6 S boats lost in WW II, only one was due to enemy action. Three ran aground, one collided with a USN ship, and the last by accident during a training exercise off the coast of Hawaii.
