What the....?! Part 2

Man, I just love how this sim works. Here I am passing the thermal layer and surfacing due to low battery power. A destroyer is just a few metres away behind just waiting for me. All of a sudden he sends depth charges but his speed is too slow and his own charges sent him to the bottom. Talk about blowing yourself up.:rotfl:The game saved my virtual life.:sunny:

Yeah, sometimes the guys on the fantail get a bit excited and start dumping DC like candy.

Forgot to mention, I restarted a new career and last night I was on my 3rd patrol east of Celebes sea. It was a field day with targets. Enemy cargo vessels criss-crossing all over the place. I sank a total of 7 merchants and a total of 35,000 tons! Used up all of my deck gun ammo and torps. A couple of destroyers and aircraft tried looking for me but I slipped through. I went on slow speed to conserve fuel and made it back to Java. Got top skipper back in the office and got a Wounded Medal? I didn't get injured so what gives?:nope:

I think I remember reading somewhere that you get the wounded medal if your sub takes a certain % of damage. I know that the times I've gotten this medal I've had the crap knocked out of me.

Well, last night I started another patrol. Got orders to deliver supplies from Java to the Phillipines. Sank two small merchant on my way. Enroute and at night I intercepted the tail end of a convoy. Sank a Small Passenger ship but that's all. Continued to the dlivery point and sent a message to Command. Got orders to do a Photo Recon at the harbour in Borneo. Well, this is where things get exciting. At around 2am I entered the mouth of the harbour and what do I see? A Task Force made up of two Escort Carriers and other warships! They were now leaving harbour and they were ahead of my bow. So I went to periscope depth and sent a volley of four torps into the closet carrier which was about 3,000 metres away. The first torp was a dud but the next three found their mark and the carrier went down, all 17,000+ tons of it. I made a 180 degree turn and because the water was shallow not much else to do when 4 destroyers are on your tail. Well, one stopped directly in front of my stern tubes and I sank it with 2 torps. The Task Force high-tailed it out of the harbour and still submerged and the dawn light coming I made my way to take photos. It was around 5am when I sighted a Large Modern Composite Merchant and well, you know what happened. She went down fast. After completing the mission I saw my batteries were real low I sailed as far away from the harbour as much as possible and surfaced. About a zillion aircraft from the remaining carrier came after me! My AI AA Gunner shot down 6 aircraft but one damaged my sub (42% damaged and half the crew injured). So with what remained of my battery power I submerged and waited for darkness. Finally under the cover of darkness I tried to make my way home. The next day sank a Tanker with my deck gun. All ammo spent now. Got orders to relocate to Fremantle, Australia. Refitted in Java. Two days after leaving Java the Japanese took the island. Glad I took along my dog, Buffy. No way I'm I gonna leave me pooch to the enemy!:D Anyway, back at the office I received a Patrol Star and another one (which I can't recall). Promoted two of my crew. Damn, should've gotten a Medal of Honor for that carrier!:nope:. But the best patrol in my career so far. Sank a total of over 80,000 tons of metal. Now where's the bloody beer!:arrgh!:
