Trapped on patrol

I am new at this sim and have been trapped on patrol now forever. I find a convoy and send a radio message then I get a reply to break contact and return to base at my discrecretion. When I get to base I do not have the option to end mission only refit or postpone. I have gone out and got this message about 10 times so far and now my hull is so damaged the next bb-gun hit will sink me. What am I doing wrong. I need to dock, end my mission and get my sub fixed.

Help!

Trapped at sea!

Go to the correct base. Apparently your home base was changed while you were on patrol, and you weren't notified of this. If you're using 1.4, then the icon of your home base is different from the others. What year and month is it and what base did you start from?

Yes, if the anchor icon is removed from your home base then the Japanese most probably captured it or an order to relocate base of operations was sent out. You don't always get the message. I'd look for the closest allied base and dock there. That happened to me at Cavite Base in Manila, there were friendly ships there but no docking options. I had to make it to Java instead. When I ended the patrol and back in the office the log book stated base of operations was changed.

It's not possible to dock(=end patrol) at any other base than the home base. You can refuel and rearm at them("Refit" in SH4), but not dock.

Oops, you're right. I did get a message to change base of operations from Cavite to Java. There I did manage to dock. You have to get an official message from Command to do so.

Thanks!

I'm running v1.3

It's May 7th 1943 my base was Brisbane. This was my first patrol out of Brisbane after a transfer from Pearl. I have tried Brisbane, Wake and Pearl and neither are allowing me to dock.

If I download 1.4 will this show me which base I need to go to.

Thanks again for the help and the welcome.

Do you have any mods enabled?
Might also want to try Freemantle or Midway

MichaelW 12-19-07 01:12 AM

Nope no mods.

I'll give Freemantle and Midway a shot.

If I load the v1.4 patch while still on patrol will I loose this patrol? I've needless to say sent quite a few ships to the bottom and would hate to loose all the effort plus the nearly 15 real time days of patrol.

I wouldnt do it because 1.4 adds 20km distance and hull integrity amongs others to the game and could very well cause a CTD or make you lose your patrol

Hang in there, Ive gone through the same thing and it sucks

Finally!

It was Freemantle. I would have hoped for some sort of notice of my base change unless I just plain missed it.

Well my entuire crew got promoted plus I had something like 8,000 renown.

Now to take my experianced crew out for some fun in the sun in the South China Sea.

Thanks again for all the help!
