PLEASE do NOT start a pissing contest, but
I have always played NYGM. That's not because of any prejudice, it's just that it was the first I d/l and I had d/l capacity constraints.
I'm probably going to give GWX2.0 a go. If someone has tried NYGM 2.6 and GWX 2.0 I'd love to hear what they feel the differences are. Note: if you have NOT tried BOTH then please do NOT post - I only want comments from people who have tried both and are in a position to say 'here are some obvious differences'. I certainly am NOT looking for any comment on which is 'better'. My own view is that NYGM is terrific, and plenty of people view GWX as terrific too (as I said, I have not tried GWX so have no first-hand experience, but not as a result of any view that NYGM is better). I imagine BOTH are terrific, and am looking for some feedback on how they differ! Cheers all. |
Hey ST.
You're best bet would be to go to the GWX website and check the features section. And of course, you should read the manual for a more detailed view of what GWX 2.0 is all about. |
No worries at all Steeltrap. Seriously.
My only thought is that it is a bit early to really 'grade' or rate GWX 2.0. Its only been out three days for those donating to Subsim. Full release isn't until the 16th. |

I'll almost certainly d/l 2.0 and try it myself, anyway, but will have to organise d/l etc (would donate but no credit card/paypal). I'll also check out that link and read up on it more myself (thanks for suggestion, Dowly). Cheers all! |
Have fun and I hope you enjoy GWX!
|
Yeah I'm reading the website at present. Looks great - which is exactly what I expected!
|
I doubt you'll be disappointed :arrgh!:
|
is pissing a naughty word ?
|
I used to play NYGM ages ago and I really enjoyed it too, I moved over to GWX because it had more - well just more stuff (for me personally)
Truth be told -there is no right or wrong here and I dont think anyone can tell you as its down to personal preference. You just need to try everthing and decide what suits you best. |

Anyway, I'll d/l when it becomes available (have to plan, as it will take a while!). Things such as the subs' physics, deck/flak gun behaviour, crew medals/promo/performance etc etc all interest me. Those were all tweaked in NYGM, as were things like convoy and patrol routes, so I'm looking forward to seeing how GWX has done them. Who knows - I might even end up writing a commentary/comparison on each. If I did, I would stress the 'here is how they differ' and not attempt to say one is superior. As has been stated - by me and others - such a conclusion depends entirely on playing style and taste, so to suggest either is 'better' is probably pretty artificial. Looking forward to things being available in the land of Oz....!! Cheers |

Depends. In Australia we use it in many ways: Heavy rain - "It's pissing down out there" Waste of effort/overly optimistic - "You're pissing in the wind" Flattery - "You're pissing in my pocket" Enebriation - "You're pissed as a parrot" A discussion of who is better at something, or also a battle of egos, or a drinking competition - "A pissing contest" Anger - "He was really pissed about it" Hmmmm....I could go on for a while. I'd never really thought of how popular and versatile it is in Australia! Cheers |
You forgot the most commonly used one....."piss off" ;)

I was trying to confine it to "pissed" or variations thereof....
But you're correct, that is the most common variety... :rotfl: :rotfl: Hmmm, the things we do waiting for 2.0 to be available..... |
