Sub miss - Sub sunk
USS Sailfish went yesterday north of Luzon down with all hands.
Got the sonar message for a freighter, moved in and got sightings of two freighters. While moving into gunnery range i got a bird warning from radar and ignored it. While shelling the second freighter (modern/small) the lookouts cried their "Plane spotted". I hit the alert-button, ordered the AA to be manned and made some evasive maneuvers. Just when the bow tipped under the surface i got a direct hit and at least one near miss at the bow. Everything went everywhere leaking and the "You're dead"-screen popped up. It was a nice mission until then. Got one Ise, one Maya and one Nakara noth of Borneo, three freighters in the west of Luzon and proceeded up to the Chinese Sea to meet my fate. Well, back to the beginning, don't go over Start and don't take 200 bucks. |

Thanks for the report but I dont understand the Quote:

Do Not Pass Go Do Not Collect $200, its Monopoly!

The days of standing on deck with a bag of popcorn while the gunner writes his name in the wings of fighters is over
|
The only time I ever even think of taking on any planes is when I have two twin AA guns manned by crewmen with very high rankings in gunnery (over 120). Every other time I order a crash dive and go deep to avoid detection.

Well, it was a nice day and i decided to give the crew a rest. Until we reached northern Luzon heavy seas shook the boat, not to speak about the skipper.

You are in enemy waters, can not let the guard down! But, if you run up on deck you can grap some flying fish that landed on it. Let the galley cook fry them up for the crew:up:

With my new command, will do. Are those fishes tasty? :D
|
Even with uber excellent gunners at both AAs why bother with the increased flights that will be attempting to search for you . . . and remember that'll tip of the convoys in the area as well :nope:
A Submarine is about stealth . . . not a AA packed Atlanta Class Light Cruiser. |

Since when? I missed the memo:shifty: |
Since the mid-50's i think, when the Skipjack-class was introduced.
Small bones, eh? Another way of keeping the men at work. "Battlestations, battlestations, it's fried flying fish again" ;) |
