well that was interesting!

Having finally got GWX 2.0 installed late last night, I just HAD to begin a patrol today before getting down to the mundane landlubbery jobs we mostly have to do in this world. I am in Kiel, of course, so off we tootle,me admiring the scenery and noting the new bits and pieces and once I was happy that we were clear of any immediate hazards ( like the quay wall for instance!), I went below to plot the course (snazzy new tool there). No sooner had I got there than I heard some explosions. Being somewhat cowardly, my first move was to go to peri depth and peer about. I could still hear planes, but no more bangs, and other craft were still continuing along as normal, so I came up again. Over to the starboard there was something burning in the water, and I couldn't quite make it out, but as an investigate would mean crossing the bows of another boat, I decided to mind me own business and carry on. Well, lining up for the bridge I heard a further explosion and looking astern see a boat that had been cruising peacefully along now stopped dead and in flames - and the original burning something was moving around it, low in the water, still with flames and smoke coming out of it.

Hmm sez I to first mate ( do we have first mates on subs?) gotta get a closer look at this, so, leaping up topside, I grab the legs of a passing albatross and wing my way over to the burning boat. I then see that the thing circling around the burning boat, like a shark is... a plane, his prop still turning even though only just the top of the plane is visible in the water. What??! Is this some new sort of SEA-plane? So did its pilot down the approaching boat with a burst from its guns even from its own watery grave? Made I laugh! Great fun, even if it isn't meant.
Very pleased with the new mod, even though hardly into it yet. great work team- how do you do these amazing things? Thank you

No first mates in subs. First watch officer (or simply first officer) in German Boots.
Of course, you always have Bernard. :D

She-Wolf 12-11-07 08:57 AM

ahh, Uncle Bernard - I know him well; best of mates we are!:rotfl:

You'd best apply for a desk job ashore then.

If you talk about project "Exocoetidae", the SS will have to kill you.:shifty:

Kpt. Lehmann 12-11-07 03:42 PM

Remember, if you save your game in harbor regions, a stock SH3 bug kicks in and all scripted traffic loses their waypoints... causing them to drive in a straight line until they hit something.

Nothing we can do about it.:-?

She-Wolf 12-11-07 04:26 PM

ho-hum......

Kpt. Lehmann 12-11-07 04:46 PM

Sorry She-Wolf, wasn't trying to be flippant.

She-Wolf 12-11-07 05:54 PM

s'okay Kpt Lehman, didn't think you were. :)

I say though, we DO have to be a bit on our toes coming out of Kiel now. I told of that downed plane earlier, and since I have been back, there seems to have been an attack on Kiel as one ship has been sunk.. perhaps I ought to keep the gun manned.....:o
