[REL] TM and RFB HUD mod workarounds
 

These are very simple JSGME compatible mods that allow users of TM and RFB to change the appearance of their HUDs without losing the button icons that are specific to those mods.

PS. All my crying like a 6 year old because my buttons did not have pictures, DT took the time to work it out. Nice work DT. I can stop crying now.

Is there a way to get a weather report and the little pics not using RFB or TM? I am running Oakgrooves HUD.

Unfortunately not. The TM and RFB mods added these functions that were not there with the unmodded version of SH4. I use the original Oakgrooves like you but when I installed RFB the added buttons were there but no pictures. This was the fix. You should try either of those mods. There are very good. Then add this fix for the buttons. :up:

I'm almost positive that, if you install either one of these workarounds, you'll end up with the orders bar (the extra buttons and icons) from the mod (TM or RFB), but no other changes. The only problem I could see off the top of my head is if there were changes made to the tooltip text in the original mod (TM or RFB). If there are changes in the menu.txt file and you mouseover a button that references a line in the menu.txt file that is not in your menu.txt file, I don't know what the outcome would be (possible CTD, minimum no tooltip text). I would only do this at your own risk. The other side of this is that I (like the idiot that I am sometimes:oops: ) forgot to ask permission to use the files that I used from TM and RFB. Since I designed these to be workarounds for the mods and that they wouldn't be used by anyone who wasn't already using the mod, I didn't think it would be a problem.

If you'll look in my sig, there's a link to a mod combo I did called the Mess Hall Sink Mod combo. It may be more than you're looking to change (like the camera changes) but those can be removed from the mod before you activate it. There's also a workaround for it to handle the HUD mods.

Now, that's a situation that calls for some tear shedding:shifty:

Thanks man! :up: I installed the RFB model on the stock version and it works fantastic.:yep: If you could maybe edit the original post to say that it works on stock versions as well and maybe AVG could put it under 1.4 compatible mods, I'm sure there are others that would love this! :arrgh!:

Thanks for letting us know kylesplanet. Before I would feel comfortable billing these as mods on their own, I'd need to get permissions from the original modders that created the orders bar for their mods. I would also have to check to make sure there are no problems created with regards to the menu.txt file. I'll try to review the files as soon as possible and see where it goes from there.
