Well, it's that time of year again; Pearl Harbor Day. I was reflecting back on the attack. Hope you guys like the links.:know:

The part I find the most interesting, is of coarse the midget sub attack. The USS Ward sinking the midget sub.
Midget subs:

The midget the Ward sunk:

Wow, I learned something new! The beached midget sub was chased by the USS Helm! I always thought it just got beached( it was never chased). I also saw on the map where the USS Monaghan sank a midget sub. I didn't realize the midget subs had penetrated so far into the harbor.

USS Oklahoma

In regards to Pearl Harbour, I believe I recently read that there will soon be a new memorial dedicated to the men of the USS Oklahoma in addition to the USS Utah and USS Arizona memorials. I think it's a good idea to add such a memorial, considering the level of casualties from the Oklahoma and that fact that the other two aforementioned ships which were total losses currently have memorials for their crews.:yep: It's too bad that the wreck of the Oklahoma wasn't preserved (she sank while under tow for scrapping in case anyone didn't know), but I think most of the bodies of her dead were recovered for burial and the memorial will still be a fitting tribute, with or without the actual ship. Has anyone else heard any more about this?
