A curious file in SH4 root directory
What the heck is SI.bin in the root directory of SH4.
I use Win XP and the windows explorer icon for the file is a blue note pad, much like a .cfg file. The contents of the file cannot be made by my keyboard but it has a o in the upper left of the note pad page with a accent ` mark directly over top of the o. That's it, nothing else. I saw this file the other day in the SH4 root directory, with the same contents. Two days ago, I uninstalled/reinstalled the game files with 1.4 and until today the SI.bin file was missing. Today I had just closed out a stock game session (no mods installed), windows returned to the root dir of SH4 (since that was from were I had launched the game) and right before my eyes the file appeared. I have run Spybot, Ad-Aware, my AVG 7.5 anti-virus and all have turned up nothing. So my question is, does anyone else have this file in their root directory of SH4 and what the heck is it? I have to run for now, so quible amongst yourselfs. |
I also have the file in my game directory. Extention .bin is a CD disk image file format of iso (wikipedia info). Could be the info to run the game without the dvd.

yes I have it as well and do not know what it is
When opend up with a hex editor it has 00000 and a F2 line and that's it in it. Maybe a new form of link between the game and the save files. Some of the root files change as the game changes with mods. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks guys.
I haven't had a problem with the game operation with the file either listed in the root dir or not. I don't know if this file just developed after the 1.4 patch or whether it had been there all along. It became obvious to me when it appeared right before my eyes. I think I'll take leovampire's advice and not worry about it. But, as I look back on this thread I wish I had checked my spelling for "curious". |
