ASUS Eee Laptop
I think I want one of these things. Tired of lugging around the Acer 4400. THe Acer is good, don't get me wrong, but to tell you the truth, I hardly need that ATI x700 or ML-30 CPU while on the road. I think I played Dangerous Waters on it once since I've had it.
This tiny Asus Eee only costs less than $500, weighs in at only 2 pounds, has 1 GB of RAM, and has a SSD HD - no mechanical parts means long battery life and no shock crashes! SSD's are also pretty fast last time I checked, easily outpacing a WD Raptor in speed. It is only 8 GB storage, but for some basic apps, and a game or two, that or more than plenty. COmes with Linux installed, but I think I'd change it back over to XP Pro or something. Figured I'd share at least in case someone wants a cheap ultra portable laptop: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...07&modelmenu=1 -S http://eeepc.asus.com/global/images/subbanner-eeepc.jpg http://www.asus.com/999/images/produ.../EeePC4G-1.jpg |
I think this is a great idea. I can imagine parents would find these a good purchase for their kids in school.

The 4 GB version with 512 MB RAM only costs $320 on the street, so yeah, that would make a good purchase for kids.

They sold out of them here in Australia when they released them. Many sellers are trying to get more stock before Christmas.
I can see Microsolf trying to come up with a OS that can run on it (Excuse me for a second, HA!HA!HA!HA!:rotfl::rotfl:, thanks, I feel better now!) Soulds like the laptop will be fighting with the Wii over which will be more popular and who can get them this christmas! |
Yeaj, I'm going to pick up one of these at some point, I already have a fairly small laptop for on my travels, but having one of this size would be really great and mean I could ditch the 'rucksack bag' I have for it and shove it in my suitcase wiith everything else.
:D Chock |
And you can't beat the price! :D The 8 GB version is a must though. Can't see 4 GB being all that useful. I installed a Gentoo installation the other day and I used 6 GB for that. On this little laptop, that would be fine given 2 Gb to store files.

More importantly, can it run SH3? :hmm:
