Evel Knievel checks out...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7122258.stm
The man had some balls to do what he did. I'm reminded of his Snake River "jump" every time I drive cross the Perrine Bridge spanning the Snake River Canyon into Twin Falls, close to where I live. The location where the ramp was is just east of the bridge... R.I.P. |
One hell of a stunt man
R.I.P |
I seem to recall he crashed a lot, but even so, there's no doubt he was an American icon, and if nothing else, he had guts to get back up and keep on trying - RIP.
:D Chock |
Yep, a real gutsy guy :yep:
RIP Sir |
It's really an achievement that he didn't kill himself with all those stunts, but instead lasted all the way to now!
Salute to him. Definitely part of the American folklore now :) |
His longest jump...
|
I met Evel in Vegas when I was 10 years old. Well, me and 10,000 other people pushing their way up to meet him. I still have a picture with his autograph in storage somewhere. God rest his soul. |
Evel was my boyhood idol. He inspired me with his bravado and verve, to the point where I jumped six cars, twice, when I was 17. So long, Evel.
|
Eh-.... damn....
So there's no wheelchair stunts for us to look forward to? |
Doesn't his son do stunts as well?

*sigh* always thought he'd go in one of his stunt's , not old age and sickness  - Atleast He had fun in his life and did things many of us would ,or could, never do ;).
|
When I was a little daredevil on my banana seat bike my neighbor used to compare me to good ol' Evel. Made me proud. RIP
