Patrol for how long?
Apart from getting the hang of things in the 'quick missions', I have just completed my first mission where I had to patrol around an island. After several days and a few kills (admittedly on easy settings for now  ), the patrol objective was still saying incomplete.
How long do you generally need to patrol areas for? Leigh |
There is a thread for this, but IIRC I read that the number is 48 hours.

It depends on how the AI of the game 'sees' the assignment. I haven't figured out the logic of this yet. Sometimes I get a Complete (and secondary assignment) as soon as I get within 50 miles of my patrol star, sometimes I have to float around it for several days before it completes.
Here's what I do: Use the compass tool to draw a 25 mile circle around your patrol star. When you get there, stay within the circle until it completes. You might draw an additional 50 mile circle around the patrol star. I think the actual diameter is 50 miles as I sometimes get a completion just reaching that point. You might also send a status report when you reach your patrol star. By the way, its perfectly kosher to sink any enemy vessel you come across on the way to your patrol area. There have been a couple of times that I had to return to rearm long before I reached the patrol area. Run Silent, Run Deep |
Go get the Run Silent Run Deep mod. The messages and your objectives are spelled out for you. Super nice mod.

Thanks, i actually patrolled the whole group of islands to pass some time but this was probably out of the zone then. I'll give it another try.
I'm going to download the 1.4 patch this evening so I'll also try out the Run Silent, Run Deep mod. Many thanks, I really appreciate the helpful advice and threads here. Leigh |
Dopey question
This has no doubt been asked before but....
Does RSRD complement TM? Or is it one or the other but not both? |
Currently the two can't be used together in 1.4, but I'm sure a TM compatible version of RSRDC is on the way since TM for 1.4 was just released.
If you're still running SH4 version 1.3, then you can run Trigger Maru 1.6.5 together with the RSRDC TMaru compatible version. |
