Best way to prepare for patch 1.4?

Hi everyone,

What would you recommend to do?
First thing to do is probably to deactivate the installed mod's?
Then:
-Can i just install patch 1.4, then start the game, load my existing career and load the "autosave before mission" (or something like that) to continue my existing career?
-Or should i start a new career?
-Or is it better to uninstall the game and reinstall it, then patch it? (this would be drastic, isn't it?

Thanks and regards,
fvd

The correct way would be to fully uninstall SH4 and then reboot and defrag. Then reinstall the game and install patch 1.4. However, I have to tell you that with both SH3 and SH4, all I've ever done is uninstall my mods, add the new patch and start a new career. I have yet to have a single problem.

Likewise. If you haven't corupted any of the files in your game through altering mods when they were still active via JSGME then you should be good to go by just deactivating all your mods (remember to export an active mods list too, otherwise you won't know what went where!), installing 1.4 and then reactivating any mods. Bear in mind though that 1.4 will affect most of the mods.

Thats what I did anyway and Ican't see any problems so far.

LOL ... I second that. I know I should do the whole enchilada ... but I've always just deactivated the mods ... patched ... and fired her up again. Took the risk figuring if I fired up SH4 and anything was wrong ... then I'd do an uninstall and clean house.

Have had no problems to date.
