Running SH4 on lower end rig

I was able to run SH3 very well on my:

XP 1.7GHZ P4 ,1GB ram and ATI Radeon 9550 256mb vid card. I got a glimpse of the thread with ATI vid cards....

How will I fare with SH4?? If you guys say it will run, Ill go and get it!

Thanks!

Your processor is a little slow, you'll need more than 1 Gb of RAM to get decent performance. I believe that your graphics card will support it.

Have a shot, but be ready for it to be slow and you will have to lower the settings down.

Well I hate to say anything but I dont belive it will run very well...Sorry:-?

I have a second box where I've run SH3 OK:

Athlon XP 2400+ (2 GHz)
1.25 GB RAM
Radeon 9600 XT (256MB)

And it just runs SH4 like a dying dog, even after I tried stopping every process I could (because of the memory), and setting everything as low as I could, running 1024x768. It did get a lot better after stopping things to free memory, but the CPU and VID performance were slow.

It'll probably just frustrate you.

I have a 256MB ATI Radeon 9600 XT. Not totaly ideal. It stutters and lags, and is slow to start up, but somehow it runs it.

I tried SH4 on:

an older 3200+ single-core, nVidia 9200 based AGP, 2GB registered/buffered RAM, 80GB 5400 RPM HD. Performance was simply unacceptable, even after overclocking - safely - to the max. Registered/buffered RAM, of course, will not tolerate overclocking, but, despite that fact, I don't believe substituting standard DDR (this was an older 939 board with no DDR2 capability) would've made any difference. Lots of lag, jittering, "yakkity throw-up" graphics performance.

i have the same cpu Xp 2400+ with a 6600 gt card and 1gb of ram.

is playable, not smooth and only 10 fps in big task forces, in open seas i have a very aceptable framerates , 15-20 I think that the trick is a good graphic card and 2 gb of ram if is possible.

Now i want to buy a new 7600 gt /gs AGP card because are very cheap , about 90 € euros (more or less in $) i know that is outdated system , but after it will be a backup computer or for old games when i build a new rig .:88)
