IBM to shove ads onto DVDs (Just like TV commercials)
This is exactly what I don't want on my DVD. It's not too big a deal for me though since I'll just rip it apart, and remux my custom made DVD.
The more that i think about it, this could save me money! http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/11...ad_laden_dvds/ -S |
I hate all adverts on TV and I hated film trailers on video and now this. :hulk:
People this is a dark day for DVD entertainment. :nope: |
I guess they don't get it when we buy PVR's just to bypass the damn commercials!
I don't mind advertising. It is a neccesary evil to sell peoples product. I do mind however the shear quantity of it! Its just too much! -S |
I feel an ancient primitive craving for blood and cracking open some heads for this.
If this gets through, it is my argument to stop buying DVDs, no matter what kind - in the end, it is entertainment only. It is not really needed. Cannot remember to have bought any new game release this whole year, and i think it will possibly will not be different net year. and my movie archive - counts over 250 VHS cassettes, so what need for DVDs do I have? |
I allways use scene selection & select first one, this passes all the crap and goes straight to the movie!:yep:

If the price goes down I won't mind.
BUT! If the price goes down I can see it rising again quickly once we are used to the adds. |
Many of you folks are too young to remember that the same pitch was made for cable TV. "Pay a monthly fee and your TV will be commercial free"...
Look how long that lasted. |

Don't worry too much.
If it doesn't make a profit, it won't happen. I don't think it will. |
