[REL] Redmask Version For OLC's GUI (tested on GWX only)
After a lot of trial and error I finally managed to make these masks:up:,for all of you who, like me,tend to play in a darkened room and prefer something darker.
All it does is place redmasks over the attack scope, obs scope and replaces the old Night_Filter.tga over the navmap(although OLC has said he is doing something different with this in the next update, when this happens I'll get rid of it.) At the moment I only made a version for GWX users as this is what I have installed and time is limited. All credit goes to OLC for his brilliant mod. This is my first attempt at modding SH3,all comments/improvements welcome. Hope you like it,here's the link http://files.filefront.com/OLC+GUI+f.../fileinfo.html |
give it a try
Thanks, Paco |
Is this SubSim_Forum made only for GWX_Users?
Why for GWX only:damn: ? Every time i must read this words: for GWX_only.:damn:
GWX is not the only good Super_Mod in the World:nope: |
...but GWX is the best of supermods.;)

The problem you seem to have is why OLC made his mod for GWX. Ask him rather than trolling in this guy's release thread. Besides, didn't OLC make a stock version too.:hmm: |
Yes, there is a stock version. So enjoy!

And I think, WAC, NYGM, RealUboat, LivingSH3 and all other unnamed BigMods ( most of this Mods are making from the Modders alone, without a big team, many alphatesters and betatesters and so on) arent also very good supermods and have the same Rights in this Forum, or not?:yep: And without the great works from all the other great Modders, that GWX used, no one will talks: GWX is the best of supermods. Last words, this ForumName is: SH3 Mods Workshop and not SH3 Mods Workshop for GWX only. |
hey achilleez13,
just downloading your mod, im curious what it looks like. it would have been nice if you posted a screenshot of the changes the mod makes. and about that "GWX only"-talk, i think achilleez13 didnt mean to exclude anyone's supermod or disregard anyone's work. he said this was his first mod and i think he just stated "GWX only" meaning - i guess - "tested with GWX only". nothing to make a big thing out of it, so everyone just try it with his or her individual setup, im sure its working for everyone ;-) greetz mic EDIT: oh i forgot the most important thing, achilleez13 it would be nice of you to tell us which files have been actually changed by you, so that the users of other supermods can apply your mod to "their" OLC GUI Version. it might be a good idea to generally make this mod smaller and include only those files changed. would make it easier to use with someone's own indivifual changes to OLC's mod. |
Sorry for not being clearer in my earlier post, was very early and I was tired so posted briefly.Yes I did mean tested with GWX as that is my setup,I don't have several different installs due to an over stuffed hard drive. As the changes for this mod are almost entirely within the menu_1024_768.ini and I appreciate how delicate this file can be to game stability,I thought it was better to warn people that this was for GWX.I didn't mean to annoy any other supermod users etc.The only way I could see of posting this as a smaller file would be a small .ini mod using jimimadrids text installer after all it is only changing a few lines.I just didn't have the time to write all this this morning so I simply uploaded the whole thing.
Anyways heres the text if anyone simply wants to do a manual install,firstly this goes at the end of the segment for the attack scope [G26 I143] Name=RedLight Type=1026;Menu group ItemID=0x26120000 ParentID=0x26000000 Pos=54,770,1024,768 Color=0xFFFFFFFF [G26 I144] Name=BottomRight Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x26120005 ParentID=0x26120000 Pos=365,-342,295,295 Color=0x96000050 Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/redmask.tga Crop 0=1,1,-1,-1 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x29 [G26 I145] Name=TopRight Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x26120004 ParentID=0x26120000 Pos=365,-47,295,295 Color=0x96000050 Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/redmask.tga Crop 0=1,0,-1,1 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x29 [G26 I146] Name=BottomLeft Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x26120002 ParentID=0x26120000 Pos=70,-342,295,295 Color=0x96000050 Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/redmask.tga Crop 0=0,1,1,-1 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x29 [G26 I147] Name=TopLeft Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x26120001 ParentID=0x26120000 Pos=70,-47,295,295 Color=0x96000050 Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/redmask.tga MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x29 [G26 I148] Name=Right Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x26120008 ParentID=0x26120000 Pos=660,-47,364,590 Color=0x96000050 Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/redmask.tga Crop 0=0.00390625,0.00390625,0.0078125,0.0078125 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x29 [G26 I149] Name=Left Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x26120007 ParentID=0x26120000 Pos=-55,-47,125,590 Color=0x96000050 Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/redmask.tga Crop 0=0.00390625,0.00390625,0.0078125,0.0078125 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x29 [G26 I150] Name=Bottom Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x26120003 ParentID=0x26120000 Pos=-55,-637,1024,131 Color=0x96000050 Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/redmask.tga Crop 0=0.00390625,0.00390625,0.0078125,0.0078125 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x29 [G26 I151] Name=Top Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x26120006 ParentID=0x26120000 Pos=-55,0,1024,47 Color=0x96000050 Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/redmask.tga Crop 0=0.00390625,0.00390625,0.0078125,0.0078125 MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x29 Then this goes at the end of the obs scope text [G2B I147] Name=RedLight Type=1026;Menu group ItemID=0x2B120000 ParentID=0x2B000000 Pos=-110,-90,150,25 Color=0xFFFFFFFF [G2B I148] Name=BottomRight Type=1030;Static bmp ItemID=0x2B120005 ParentID=0x2B120000 Pos=110,-140,1024,768 Color=0x96000050 Materials=1 Display=2;Linear Mat 0=data/menu/gui/obsmask.tga MatFlags=0x9 TexFmt=0x29 However you will need the custom "obsmask.tga" image placed in your data/Menu/Gui folder which I am now uploading,heres the link http://files.filefront.com/obsmasktg.../fileinfo.html The only other thing would be to change the navmap,I think OLC disabled the redlight by re-positioning it(I am probably wrong about this),but all I did to switch it back on was to open the menu_1024_768.ini inside OLC's mod with notepad and search for night_filter.tga then simply replaced that segment with the un-modified version. Please be aware though that I have absolutely no idea how this will fit with an .ini file modified by any of the other big mod packs so please be careful. Hope all this is some help. |
achilleez... looks (at a glance) like your obs scope solution should work well  but what happens in the attack scope when the range/aob finder comes down?
|
Yea,that is still silver I'm afraid :-?this isn't a complete solution yet.I was sort of hoping that once this had seen the light of day some others more experienced (like yourself),might have some suggestions how this could be achieved.I'm guessing you would need two new custom masks one with a cover for the silver that is visible when the whizzwheel is closed and one with a small apperture for when it is open.Would this be possible? This is definitely a 1.0 release:),I havn't got round to even tracking down whereabouts the data for the whizzwheel is yet.perhaps you could point me in the right direction?
|
This range/aob finder issue is one of the problems I encountered and could not resolve. :nope: Good luck!

Crash!
Unfortunately your mod makes SH3 crash after it finishes loading at startup. When the progress bar fills up, the screen goes black an eventually a windows crash dialog appears. I never saw the main menu of SH3. Is there any crash log that Sh3 generates?
I only have the following mods enabled in JGSM: GWX 16km Atmosphere GWX Captain America Officers GWX English Navmap and Grid refs GWX movie Das Boot GWX no medals on crew GWX Reduced positive bouyancy custom file with lighter sub-blueprint in crew logistics (/data/menu/data/backpap2.tga) Your redmask mod for OLCmod I don't see how that could cause it though. Are you sure that menu file works correctly? Have you tested it? All I did was extract to the JGSM mod folder and enable before running sh3. |
I must admit this is completely puzzling,is anyone else having this problem?
I'm pretty sure the menu file runs ok.The thing is because this mod is all about positioning a tga file onscreen,I must have had to load and then exit SH3 at least a hundred times when testing,it's just plain weird.I will investigate further. |
