Started a new career as Leutnant Erich Albrecht von Mayer, went out to sea in 1940, and sank the Queen Mary on my first patrol. Trouble is, she had a boyfriend alongside her. These are the results:

looks like a hospital ship... how did that happen? were you credited with the hospital ship's sinking? if so your renown will take a massive hit. :nope:

you killed a hospital ship (in the screenshots it clearly says "neutral unit destroyed").
if the kill is really credited to you you will loose 10,000 renown and maybe you are thrown out of the Kriegsmarine. Sinking a hospital ship is even worse than sinking a friendly vessel...

Did the liner blow up? Sometimes when ships are very close, they get damaged by the explosions of other ships. Maybe this happened?
