Not sure about how well SH4 gets along with 64 bit Vista. However, I seem to recall it works from a couple of threads. One thing that caught my eye was the driver for your vid card. Your running 7.10 - I have a ATI based card as well, as many on here do - and a lot of us have seen issues with the latest drivers for Radeon cards. I currently use 7.6 - I think AVG is using 7.7 - anthing later tends to give serious problems for some folks.

I would suggest trying to roll back to an older version of the vid drivers and see if that helps.

The other possibility based on what your symptoms - could be a corrupt install. You indicated it crashes when you start a campaign - is this when you click on campaign - or when you try to leave port to start the first patrol? If its the latter - its trying to start the 3d engine so I would guess its the vid drivers. If its when you first click on campaign - then it could be file corruption. In that case, I would uninstall, delete any remaining files - and then reinstall and patch and try again.

Let us know how things progress and we will all give you ideas as we can. Good luck - and also - WELCOME ABOARD!

An older Driver brings nothing :(
And the game crashed in the campagine, i am outside the harbor, on the sea

clayp 11-24-07 04:18 PM

Get rid of Vista and install XP....:D

Slup 11-24-07 06:45 PM

clapy your right,.....
Vista is not the best choice,...
i installing XP this time,.. its better.

John Channing 11-24-07 07:41 PM

When you installed SH4 did you install the Direct X that came with the game? If you bypassed that step and went with DX10 only that is probably what is causing your crashes.

You need to have the version of DX9 installed alongside the DX10 you already have for the game to run properly.

Try it without your overclock. Also, you can dual boot so you have Vista64 and Windows XP aswell.
