Sorry I made it dark without the moon being out but wanted to have it a little more realistic in nature due to many requests to get rid of the night time being to bright in the game.

Is it you or the crew having problem's?

If it is you that are asking for better visability for the night's in the game and not the crew being able to spot target's then send a P.M. to Kriller2 and ask if he will make a special set of textures with the night time lighting just a bit brighter for the ROW textures.

FWIW, I like the low visibility factor with the ROW textures. Only problem I have is on a flat panel monitor, there's some glow from other things (TDC, stad, etc.). You can adjust the gamma to make the night textures more defined, but it doesn't get rid of the glow. Or I'm not adjusting the monitor right.:hmm: 'Spose I could try playing with the brightness controls....

No complaints; just an observation. Love the ROW.

some in game stuff have a self alumination for night time

Like the crew and the other few item's you mentioned so you can see them no matter what the lighting conditions are.

Well im having a difficult time identifying ships at night. My eyes are not the best as they used to be and I was curious if there is a mod to brighten things up, i will try the brightness first and gamma to see if that helps, thank you gents.

Don't forget that you can hit the numpad-delete key to remove the HUD - that will eliminate the glow/brightness from those interface elements that DeepSix mentioned that can spoil your night vision. Then you can just hit it again to bring the HUD back once you've seen what you need to see.

Of course, playing in a darkened room and replacing your light bulbs with red ones will also help preserve your night vision :D

What happens LV if you combine Redwines Improved Visibility Mod ( it was made quite awhile ago ) with ROW :hmm: It would just change a couple of files.

Okay when Redwine made his mod it was with the original sky and reflex pack

All the new color work and reflection work that Jaketoox and Kriller2 did would be gone if you use the one Redwine made. He changed the lighting value's of the original in game sky and reflex pack's.

That is why I said ask Kriller2 to see if he would be willing to make a brighter night vs for those that would like to have it and or need it. Other wise you would lose the color work and reflection work from those 2 file's in the ROW mod.

Use optical devices they allow to see further... :rotfl:

leovampire 11-20-07 05:27 PM

I sent a PM to Kriller2 and asked if he will do this for you guy's

I don't know yet ya or nay but if he agree's he will either post it here for you or do a [REL] thread for it as a mod.

I am sure he will let you guy's know one way or the other.

That's kind of the point of it being dark. Believe me, I've been at sea when it was impossible to tell where the horizon was, much less ID a darkened ship

There are some older sub simmer's in the comunity in the 60's that have a hard time with it.

I can understand their view point where they can not see the game enough to do anything at night.

So for those few that want and or need it I guess it should be an option stand alone option.

Hi... sadly i uninstaled SH IV, then, i can do it for you, but...

As Leo explains, the night texture is together with the day textures... then if you add mines, you replaces de ROW's textures.

The solution is to cut and paste my night textures into ROW textures, using Photoshop or similar.

Some days ago i made a personalized one (for SH III) for some body who want a more clear night even, may be due his monitor color profile or some thing...

Bue i have not installed SH IV yet, i decide to forget this game, it is completelly ruined after patch 1.3, due to this i cant do it for you now.

If you have skills with photoshop, you can easy do it yourself.

Cutting and pasting the top left corner from my textures into ROW's textures you adds the Improved Night Visibility Mod.
You can add to ROW the Underwater Visibility Mod too with no negative effects on ROW, i made it when i tested ROW for Leo.

This topic was discused many times, if the night must to be pitch black or not.

In real life, and after your retine is adapted to a night vision, into a clear and moony night you can see silouettes.
With the mod, you will have some similar effect, and... it will be only in clear nights, when cloudy, you will be at a pitch black night.
One of the thing with most influence on night visibility are the clouds, into a cloudy night, the mod will have not too much effect, as in real life.
