Damage?
Is there such a thing as damage modeling in SoF? I mean beyond the hull damage - has anyone ever had any systems damaged as per the damage screen, or is this just a canned feature?
Also, anyone found the files supposedly responsible for compartment-related damage? I'm curious if it might be moddable... |
didnt thnk there was such a thng as being damaged! i get hit by 1 shell and sub is destryoed1 every flipping mission lol

Picked this game up today, loaded it up and it stutters something wicked. I can play SH4 heavily modded with max settings, what gives?
Sorry for the mini-hijack :yep: RDP |
Two things.
1) Try changing the resolution and see if it helps. 2) Even more likely: if you're running a dual-core system, you can manually change the processor affinity to only run on one core. It's helped me here, also works well for a bunch of other games... And I seem to survive shelling pretty well to a point - usually 2-4 hits are what kills me, not one. Still, I wonder if there's any chance something could be implemented with damage... |
best way to test out the system compartment damage stuff is to dive stick the scope up let an enemy warship spot you and then leave the scope up...just for testing purposes...eventualy a shell will hit the subs but as you are submerged the damage is reduced....you get a damage message (and an explosive noise) in the task bar ..check out the damage screen and all the usual suspects are there and subject to individual damage and repair times as with other sims..so it's there...just don't see it in action very often...be nice perhaps to mod the damage system slightly (tho i haven't seen any obviuos way to do this )..to reduce the instant death down to major system damage etc...that way you get better milage gameplay wise and plenty to think about whilst repairing the damage and evading the attacking vessel at the same time...:ping:

ran the training mission where I was trying to end-round the 3 merchants, one being an armed merchant that hit my deckgun with a round before I could get under (range was 8 km, btw). The "damage screen" showed my gun was out of action.
I was able to flank the ships and sank the armed merchant with torp. I returned to surface and when I clicked on deckgun, it showed a "wrench". meaning it was being repaired. I could still point gun but could not fire or change elivation. I sank the other two unarmed vessels with torps. Both vessels scattered, speeded up and made for an interesting chase. |
