What determines the available submarines to choose when starting a single mission?

CFG date for the player unit.

The editor is messed up in that it defaults to some 1941 date. If the sub isnt available in 1941, it wont appear in the sub selection when starting the singlemission. I've always just opened it in notepad after scripting the mission, and then change the date myself.

Also if you move the player unit around or otherwise make changes to the player unit in the mission editor, it sometimes defaults back to the 1941 CFG date.
