Periscope target marker

Is there any way to disable (make it disappear) the little triangular yellow/gold/green/red marker which you see when you pass over a ship? Can a Mod be made to allow that?

I would like to do some pictures "through" the scope, but the marker makes it difficult and looks artificial in the pictures.

talk to foofighters about that

Isn't this just a function of the reality settings? I've never seen this triangle thing in my game, but I've always played with fully-manual TDC/targeting, and I thought this triangle thing was a targeting aid that you only see if you've got your realism settings setup for some sort of auto- or assisted-targeting mode.

I don't know if there's any way to get rid of the triangle thing and still use the auto/assisted targeting mode - is that what you're referring to Leo? It would be nice if removing the HUD for screenshots would remove the triangle as well.

yes your right it is part of the reality settings for manual targeting

But there are some people who do not use manual targeting but would like to tell the weapon's officer and watchman what they are before the game figures out the targeting for the torpedo's. So he is trying to set the game up so that this feature alone can be shut down in a seperate check box for the game and still keep automatic targeting set up's. I hope you understand what I mean by this explination.

Yeah - I understand now - that would be great - I'm all for more options when it comes to stuff like this. And I'm all for screenshots through the scope - some of my favorite SH4 shots have been like that (like this one):

Exactly.....you've hit the nail on the head. I don't want to go totally manual (Yet), but I want thru-the-scope screencapture capabilities without the little triangle showing...... and it seems also that the targeting will/could be half way towards manual, if that makes any sense at all...

Goodmorning guys,

I am working on it.. First I tried to remove both the auto ID target and the solution triangle. I did not get it right. So i've asked the devs.
This was their answer.

1. The proper way to implement this would be to add a new "Auto ID ship" checkbox to gameplay settings, near the current "Manual targeting" checkbox. And since this change would be a change in gameplay flow, it can't be modded.
2. That triangle is one single triangle sent directly to the video card when you play with automatic targeting and there is a ship in sight. The only way to mod this is to "hex" edit the executable, which I don't recommend.

Now I am trying to do it the other way around.
I am trying to edit the manual targeting to semi auto targeting.

But no joy so far.. I will keep you all informed.

Thanks very much for your efforts. I hope this Mod, if achieved, will be useful to mroe than just me. I don't want to put you thru all the effort otherwise.

It would be cool to use auto targeting and not have to see that arcadish triangle stareing you in the face reminding you of the loser that you are for useing AT in the first place.
