Racing Sims with stunts in them - Trackmania
I used to love an old program called Stunts -
http://www.pcgaming.ws/viewgame.php?game=stunts http://www.pcgaming.ws/screenshots/stunts.gif I played this game to death (There is a freeware version in the above link by the way) building crazy stunt tracks and simply trying to survive driving it. It seems that I am not the only one who loved this old game - a company has been building it's follow ons and on top of it, releasing freeware versions!!!! Wow! Anyway, I figured I'd share the wealth: http://www.trackmanianations.com/indexUk.php Here is an example of some guy new to the gener getting hooked in only 10 min: http://mattbrett.com/archives/2006/0...s-eswc-review/ http://mattbrett.com/images/trackmania-nations.jpg -S |
Thx SUBMAN1 this is the stuff I'm looking for.

:o O my god Subman!
that game Stunt...ooooh hell! on my pentium 1 that was the game I played crazy I always made a course where I had to pass certain obstacles (loops, sharp corners)and at the end a massive jump which launched me on high speed. I'm certainly going to try it out (lost the game since I sold my pentium 1 back in the days) |
Dont even dare to think of all those hours I spent on Stunts!

Why aren't game companys makeing this for PC games now ?
Only new stuff seems to be on consoles these days. |
Ah stunts, what a classic game that was, I also built many crazy tracks, including a massive 3 hex jump (i had to cheat and put 2 landing ramps just to get the game to accept it) that was only just doable, and only with the F1 car going at top speed.
Trackmania is a very cool game, the only downside though is that it uses starforce last i check (there is a new free addition coming for the latest version of trackmania united and i think also for Nations. Rumor has it will be using a different copy protection other then starforce this time around). Trackmania Nations is the free online version with 1 car/set type (stadium) and also has a track editor (uses track pieces tiles in a similar manner to stunts). United has all the car/set types (7 total) from all the previous games united in one package (and the cool thing is you can get all the old tracks legaly from the previous games online for United). Each of the car/track sets performs quite differently from each other, from the ultra fast super cars, to rally cars, to SUV's. It also of course comes with its own editor and piles of different tiles for each set type. Both are also mainly intended for online play (though both have full single player as well). My only major gripe with Trackmania (other then starforce) is with alot of the dev made tracks tend to be designed to irritate (I like fast high speed course with lots of crazy jumps, halfpipes, loops etc) imho, with tricks like holes in a key turning spot so you will fall of the track, barriers, unclear directions on where your suppost to go, hidden landing points and other stuff which can be very confusing and irritating, especialy when you dont know that track well. A couple of the tracks are extremely difficult to even complete successfully (especialy since they added that wonderfull new tile that shuts off your engine) and have to be driven flawlessly in certain sections to succeed. For me that kills off alot of the fun and rush though Im sure others may dissagree. here is the link for Trackmania United http://www.tm-united.com/ And also a place to download user made tracks (and all the official trackmania, tm sunrise, and tm nations tracks for United as well) Trackmania Exchange http://www.tm-exchange.com/ Lastly here is a place to get skins (both games come with internal skin editors, and you can also load the skins with a graphics program to if you wish) and models for TM United http://skincenter.tm-community.com/ |
