GWX renown and wreck lost!
I hit a small tanker. I go 4klm away to sink something else.
When i come back to tanker it has sank, but no wreck or renown!:hmm: I can not wait or view a ship to sink before leaving or sneaking . What should do?:ping: |
You just use TC and you are done. ;)

Yes, but if DDs are searching after hit then i have to go away! |
Check your Logbook (Key K) to see if it is listed there. As a rule of thumb if you are within visual or Hydrophone range from the target you get the credit.

Not listed ! But , in convoys attacks I by the time the ship sinks I may be 15-25 km away! |

P.S. You may be right. The tanker was stationary target , so no hydrophone could catch. Surfaced I had a visual only 300-400 meters away. Very fogy! |

Did you save and reload between your last shot and your discovery that the tanker is gone?
If you reload and a wounded ship sinks anytime after that, than you won't get any credit. Let's call ist a stock SH3 bug ;) |
How rough were the seas ?
Sometimes the sea steals you kill by finishing off a stricken ship |
I'm in the habit now of immediately shadowing any lone ship I torpedo, just to make sure I stay in contact at the moment of sinking. Too many grey icons otherwise. My preferred torp shot for routine small kills - a single hit on the nose of the ship - makes this worse, because I'm relying on the ship to essentially sink herself by gunning it into the oncoming seas and self-flooding.
The problem seems to be worse when using the stern tubes, because the hydrophone loses contact when the target passes directly astern. So as soon as I shoot, I flip the boat around and reacquire via hydrophone, then follow the target until it sinks. I just chalk it up to the fog of war. |
