[REL] Chief , Non-quals, Raincoats

A small graphic mod for the crew. It's kind'a JSGME ready (it only has a Data folder in the .rar package) Contains a visible CPO with rank insignia on the collar (of the sweaty shirt), gold dolphin pin (on the sweaty shirt) for the Lieutenant ONLY (the JG and ENS haven't finished their qual cards yet - so no pins for them) and SOME silver dolphin pins for SOME of the crew (but not all i.e. not everyone has them). So, now we have QUALS, NON-QUALS and a visible Chief to keep everyone in line.

Also, as a bonus, I am humbly submitting a Raincoat & Rainhat (i.e. foul weather gear) graphic mod for that lazy bridge crew. It is kind'a JSGME ready too. Data folder only. Sorry 'bout that.

Whoops! I'm not sure but I think that you'll have to install my Raincoat - Rainhat mod on top of this mod (it will overwrite a .upc file) to get the Chief to work.

Also, you should install Cap'n Cox's Sweaty Shirt - Big Cap Mod before you install this mod (i.e. install this mod and the raincoat/rainhat mod on top of the Sweaty Shirt mod) or else the Chief might not show up. [Install Sweaty Shirt mod then CPO-Dolphins mod then Raincoat mod, like that.]

Mods submitted as-is, use at your own risk. No Bugs in mod files. Any problems, let me know. Pretty simple graphic mods. Should be easy.

I did the Chief's collar emblem, some minor re-coloring, and edited a .upc file. That's it. Everything else was done by other subsim modders, whose nicks I can't remember at the moment, but you probably already know who they are. Also, this IS NOT to be used as X-1 material, and you know what I mean. NOT FOR COMMERCIAL USE OR PROFIT.

Cool! I'd like to see the bridge watch in raincoats for the Aleutian patrols...

Excellent trimzeke.

Thank You!

Digital_Trucker 10-20-07 07:30 PM

Yes, thanks very much

The new uni's look good. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the mod, but as soon as I put it in, my crews eyes all went red:p . Maybe because of the chief :rotfl: Just a game bug that no one has a cure for yet.

Nice work...trimzeke!
Oh, BTW...I can think of one fellow who comes to mind and should be given credit to.....

Goes by the name of...Captain Cox. >salute!

I miss the Capt'n  ...Hope he returns to grace our presence , very soon!

leovampire 10-20-07 10:22 PM

Thanks for the mod work

And Canonicus is right Captain Cox did the original work on the sweat and hat's and rank insignia on the officer shirt's.

So just make sure you give him credit and I am sure he will be cool with it when he returns to the fold.

Cap is next

Yes, ALL credit goes to Captain Cox. I agree with you 100%. I'm not a hijacker. I just couldn't remember who it was that did the big part. My bad. The Chief's cap is next. Prototype looks ok, but it can be better. Needs more work.

Finally! Gold dolphins for the O-gangers. And, the CPO device is icing on the cake!

CPO Cap Finished

This small graphic mod is (really) JSGME ready. Just drop the folder into the Mods folder in your SH4 root directory and you're ready to go. You can also manually install this mod, if you want to and know how to do it. It's really just a simple graphic mod, not very complex.

Remember to back-up any files you want to keep.

The crew now has a real Chief Petty Officer for the goat locker (i.e. slang for the CPO quarters on the boat). I tried to make the cap device as accurate as possible and the right size (working from memory). The Chief now has a proper uniform: khakis, silver dolphins, collar insignia, cap device. Not perfect, but it looks pretty good to me.:ping:

Be advised that you should install the Captain Cox Sweaty Shirt - Big Cap mod BEFORE you install this mod, otherwise it might not look right.

I DO NOT TAKE CREDIT FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT THE CHIEF'S HAT DEVICE, BECAUSE I REALLY SUCK AT PHOTOSHOP AND IT WAS DAMN HARD TO MAKE. EVERYTHING ELSE IS THE FANTASTIC WORK OF CAPTAIN COX. THIS GOES FOR THE SWEATY SHIRTS, THE OFFICER CAP DEVICES, THE OFFICER RANK DEVICES, THE SILVER DOLPHINS AND THE HATS. ALL I DID WAS GIVE THE CHIEF AN ANCHOR EMBLEM FOR HIS CAP. THAT'S ALL I DID. SO PLEASE GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE. I JUST ADDED A LITTLE MORE TO SOME OF CAPTAIN COX'S PRE-EXISTING GRAPHIC MODS, ALREADY ON MY HARD DRIVE. CAPTAIN COX SHOULD GET ALL THE CREDIT FOR THIS MOD. I HAVE NO INTENTION TO HIJACK ANY OF HIS MODS.

ALSO, THIS MOD IS NOT FOR USE IN ANY OF THAT X-1 COMMERCIAL CRAP, AND YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. NOT FOR COMMERCIAL USE OR PROFIT. IT IS ONLY FOR THE FREE USE BY ANY SUBSIMMERS WHO HAVE SH4 AND WANT TO INSTALL THIS MOD IN THEIR GAME. IF YOU WANT TO ADD A LITTLE MORE TO THIS MOD, BE MY GUEST, YOU HAVE THE GREENLIGHT FROM ME.

Image Gallery link and Download Link in the first post of this thread are still valid to view and download this mod.

Looks good!

is there a reason why the officer's lost the Dolphin pin's?

I see they are on the crew now but the one's the officer's had are gone. Just asking if there was a reason for it?

There are only 2 relevant hat textures available [sapca_od01 and sapca_v02od01] that I know of...

Cap'n Cox customized od01 for O-gangers, but did not customize v02od01. He also included a custom crewmembers3D.upc file in the sweaty shirt - big cap mod package. As a result, the O-gangers wore the first cap [od01] and the non-officers (i.e. CPOs) wore the second [v02od01]. Or at least, that's the way I saw it.

I figured this out and, using Cap'n Cox's customized big cap texture, I found some anchors, photoshopped the officer cap and substituted it for the second texture [v02od01]. Works good in my game. No crashes, no weird stuff and everyone is wearing the right style of cap. No missing hats.

If you are missing an Officer cap, it may be due to the crewmembers3D.upc file in your game. I posted my custom .upc file for download (it prevents missing caps) in the first post (it also prevents missing raincoats and missing rainhats - you should see how screwed up that vanilla .upc file is:down: it took a lot of editing to fix)

Or you can download and install Cap'n Cox's sweaty shirt - big cap mod. It also has a .upc file that prevents missing caps
