Idea For Modding Website

hi there

ive just modded my GWX 1.03 install with some excellent additions such as torpedo damage final, SH1V effects for SH3, Fubars skins, Visible Mines, Krillers sun et etc the list goes on.

what i discovered is that for someobdy new to the modding forum, like me, it was a very long and painstaking process finding the mods on this forum. as i trawled through the posts, i found loads of posts such as "Where is the moon mod...?" ... "Try this link.".

The modders obviously put a lot of hard work into their stuff, so it seems a shame to me that some might get forgotten about or not get used simply because folks dont know about them.

Is there a website that has a comprehensive listing and download links for all the mods for SH3? if not it would be great if one day we had a website for mods, where i could, e.g. type in 'SH3', then i could see all the mods with the downloads links. perhaps their would also be additional info such as a user vote, and also comments by users on each mod about compatibility issues etc.

anyway, was just an idea. perhaps somebody has already done it? wouldve been fantastic for me the other day as wouldvbe saved me spending the whole day trawling through forum posts for these mods.

thanks

Going from my very rusty memory, uboot.realsimulation.com has got a lot. At least it did have. These days if I see a mod i want i just hunt it down in the forum, the search function is nice and easy for me.

But i do see where you're coming from

This is what I did. I added a Download links to my favorite center.

I burnt all reliable mods onto a dvd, original zipped and my Mod folder. This way if something happens all you need to do is copy paste your dvd mod folder to your SH3 JSGME Mod folder in SH3 folder. Also you have a backup should your computer bugger up or SH3 stop working.:smug:

I would use a rewritable DVD so you can update it.

Check for update time to time. Thats all folks.

This is a sore point with me. This happen to IL2 skins site (BOOM!) then it happened to uboot.realsimulation.com (BOOM!). When the mod hosting foundations disappear it becomes a mess. This is what you are find right now.

I try to help the crappy sisuation by having a one stop thread containing all my mods, and I have also linked it to JCWolfs website. Bandaid fixes, but this is what it has come too.

I would rather have a thread the dident allow comments in the same area of the mods, take my Drive Through thread, you have to search each page to locate them, this is no ones fault; having comments is what keeps me modding day after day. But it would be good to seperate them both, have a look at JCWolfs website and you will see that my mods are all in one nice neat area all Stickys (no comments).

Thats my two cents worth.
