installing a mod with JSGME

Do I copy the mods files directly into the SH4 main directory....and then try and use JSGME to activate it?

There is a file called JSGMEHelp.txt that comes with JSGME and describes step-by-step how to install mods...

I don't think there's such a file in Trigger Maru.....least I can't find any such file :S lol

You need to install the JSGME program, which is not part of Trigger Maru, first, BEFORE you install the TMARU mod.... ;)

You can get JSGME from here (it's free): http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products.html

Once you have JSGME installed, many of the other mods available in the forum can be easily installed and uninstalled...

Yeah I have JSGME installed, but how to I get it to find the mods to install them?? Do I copy them to the game's main directory for JSGME to find them? and then use JSGME to install them from there?

Cheers :)

Ah.. ok... I misunderstood... Here's a step by step...

Assuming you installed JSGME to the root Silent Hunter directory and ran it once, there will be a directory called "MODS" under the Silent Hunter root directory. On my computer it looks like: (I renamed my Silent Hunter 4 directory to SH4)

D:\SH4\
\Data
\MODS
\Support

Ok, assuming you downloaded the three Trigger Maru files, open up the REL_Trigger_Maru_GFX_PAK_2_1.7z file with 7zip and there will be a file folder called REL_Trigger_maru_GFX_PAK_2_1 inside. Click and drag that folder into the MODS directory. Then do the same with the REL_Trigger_maru_1-6.7z and TMARU-Patch_1.6.3.7z files.

Now, start JSGME and you should see the three file folders on the left hand side. Install the GFX PAK first then theTrigger_maru then the patch file.

Do this same technique for any other mods you want to install. If you add a new file to the MODS folder while JSGME is running you'll have to quit and restart it so it'll re-read the directory.

And there you have it!

Cheers!

Also, if you are running Vista make sure you always start JSGME by right-clicking it and selecting "Run as Administrator...". Do this even if your account is a member of the Administrators group.

If not file writes may be re-directed and JSGME will get confused.
