Balz Returns
Message from Kplt. J.S. Balz
13 May 1941 Prepare a grandiose welcome and festivities. U-53 commanded by the Kriegsmarine's greatest Kaleun will enter port at 0900 hours. Flying the pennants for 107,000 BRT. sunk. :smug: Weather during our patrol has been fog and rain, rain and fog, heavy seas with rain and fog. Fog and rain with light seas. Trying to find a tanker in the fog and rain, we collided with the bugger. No damage to boat. Despite the obstacles imposed by nature, I was able to brilliantly perform my duty.:smug: I now want a IXC boat, which has better acoustics for my choir. Our latest song is The fog and rain hoochie woochie. Modestly yours, Kptlt. Johan Sebastian Balz (The Magnificent) :smug: |

From BDU Part 1. Request to dock is approved. Part 2. We regret to inform you that we have no Type IXC boats available. The Fuhrer has reserved those few boats we have for only his most finest Kaleun's. The Minister of Production wishes for us to remind you that there is a war on, and since your boat has no damage, it would be silly of us to outfit you with a new boat when yours is perfectly good enough at this point. Request for a new boat is denied. Part 3. We have found you a new Chief Engineer. Lzs Bernard Weller will oversee the dockside refit and resupply while you and the rest of your officers are debriefed. Part 4. The fuhrer is not happy with the limited tonnage. Be More Aggressive! From: U-52
To: BDu Heinz Buder writes: Have just heard of Balz's recent successful patrol, and suggest that he gets a type IX, else you want the most illustrious Balz to defect to another country (i.e the U.S), and us losing the war in quick order. Heinz Buder. |
