WIP/Need help please.
Hi all. I have tried my had at making a ship, and with help from Privateer, I've gotten this far:
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...agle8/Pic1.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...agle8/Pic2.jpg http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...agle8/Pic3.jpg From the above pics, my problem should be fairly noticeable. Most of the ship seems to be have issues with the Hull and Deck skins. I hear this is a problem with multiskin ships. But, I would like this to stay a multiskin ship, but how do I fix the above problem? Thanks. |

Are you familiar with UV mapping? Do you know what it is? If not do a google search for it and start learning. What 3D modelling program are you using? |
I know nothing about Hex editing, but I can learn. Do I need that to fix this?
I know how to UV map, but I am very horrible at it at the moment. and I am using Wings 3D. Thanks |
I say hex editing because you need to change the ID's used for the TGA's for the different parts of the ship. It appears from your post that there are ID's referencing TGA's from many different parts/ships (TGAs).
It appears also that you took many different parts of ships and made a new one from them. This would also require the need to change the IDs used. When you load your 3D model of the ship into Wings3D how many different materials show up as being used? |
What I did to make that ship, is it's all from its own dat. I just copied and combined parts to make it, I also just stretched things in and out and warped them around to what I liked. Like, most of the hull is just moved around, but the masts are one mast with the cranes moved and copied to create the cross beams. Nothing in that ship came from a different ship other that the one I started with (NKSQ_).
and I don't understand what you mean by how many materials being used. |
horray, glad to see your still workin on it
i still cant wait to shoot at it!! |
