black screen on startup
 

HI,
I was wondering if anyone had the same problem. I couldn't find an answer to it on subsim. A have GF 7600 GS and 93.71 drivers for it. I had to reinstall my OS and after that I can't even start playing SHIII. After the main loading screen a get a black one with a cursor only and music. What's odd is that before reinstalling the OS everything worked just fine. I had the same GFX, the same drivers, the same DX and it was ok. I have no idea why this happend. I reinstalled the GX drivers, the game and the DX and nothing...:cry: Anybody have an idea...?

Probably you haven't properly reinstalled your video codecs and cannot watch the beginning movies. Try either to install a codec package - such as Ace Megacodec Pack, or K-Lite (however avoid Nimo, it can mess up your system) - or just delete the intro movies, in the Movies\Intro folder of your game.

had the same after I installed a codec package. When I removed them, SH3 ran fine again.

Can`t help you which codecs are needed though.

Thank's gyus:up: It is all about the codecs. But actually when I unistalled K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, the game ran fine:) With them it was still a mess. Now I have to figure out which codecs I can use to watch movies and play the game. Thanks again!

Take care about K-Lite.

Goto:

1) Start
2) All Programs
3) K-Lite Codec Pack
4) Configuration
5) Codec Tweak Tool
6) Disable the ffdshow filter
